haven't been to vegas in years but i went to a few of those restaurants listed above and went to the Alladin buffet which was the best by far. I heard they closed down that hotet, not sure if the buffet was moved or it got worse since then.

that I agree with
if you're going to throw a couple hundred on a table/machine/game/etc, at least throw some around on some decent food
I would hate to tell people I lost in vegas AND didn't see any shows or go anywhere AND ate at taco bell
could stay in milwaukee and do that

#112There's something for everyone.
I think Canuck is a young guy, so don't listen to kmarino or the other guys spouting off places with $100/plate, unless you're bringing a hot date.
Top Shelf: try the Cosmo hotel. There's a burger place, Holstens, not bad, good place to see and be seen. Next door is Chinese Poblano, serves Mexican/Chinese food, but not run-of the mill stuff. You won't find this food in Kansas. Their buffet is good, but that's when they first opened, they make have cheapened it by now. Cosmo is a fun place to walk around and have a drink. Great place to impress a date.
The Well: personally, I'm jades with the strip, so this may be biased. Places like Pink Taco do nothing for me. Besides, you can find half the chains in Canada, so I'd skip them and go to Hash House A Go-Go in Imperial Palace. Huge portions for decent prices. If you have a car; Smashburger, In-N-Out, and Metro Pizza are nearby.
Personally, I think the Steak House at Circus Circus is bomb, but you'd have to go there, and it's nasty hotel.
Budget Alcoholic Special: Steak and Eggs at Hooter from midnight to 6pm is $3. (they are disgusting) South Pointe has a decent graveyard special. Station Casinoes have the best buffets for value, I believe it's $10 for dinner and they're good.
Also Vegas has awesome Nevada style pubs that are open 24 hours. They're one of the best things about Vegas. Steiner's and Village pub are good and close to the strip.Comment -

#128I second Hash House a go go. Great food, gigantosaurus portions.
The buffet at Cosmopolitan is insane. If you are new to gourmet food, its a great place to try lots of dishes you've heard about, but never eaten. Bone marrow, ceviche, etc. And you don't have to eat from a trough.
Carnevino in Palazzo is the best steaks around.Comment -

#132Are you talking about Earl of Sandwich?
They have one at DisneyWorld as well. (...if course I would know that)
It's pretty good. But not even close to the old Stage Deli that used to be in the forum shops in Caesars. I couldn't believe when they shut down. Place was always packed every hour they were open. Those were the best sandwiches I've ever eaten.Comment -

Sushi:
Sushi Samba
But I agree with Grits on Naked Fish (used to visit this place in San Fran all the time)
Pho:
Saigon 8 (the newer one on Spring Mtn - chinatown of course) - off strip, fantastic and cheap
Steak:
So many good steak houses I have eaten at.
The ones that have left an impression are Del Frisco's Double Eagle and The Range.
I only have been to Del Frisco's once, but it was the best steak I have eaten in Vegas, I go to The Range for the prime rib every single time. Also, had a lot of fun at Geisha.
Favorite late night:
South Pointe - steak and eggs for under 5 bucks. Yeah, sure it is a helluva trek, but I always have a car so I don't give a fukk, also like that casino
Buffet:
Bellagio
Planet Hollywood
Wynn
Not in that order, they are all, I just rotate through those
Good bar fare:
Margarittaville. Sure, tourist trap to be sure, but the goddamn nacho's and drinks are fantastic. Always a good time.
Cheap Brunch:
GVR - cheap as hell, and as good as any on the strip, but it is a trek.
Favorite place(s) in all of las vegas to eat:
Vinter Grille (off strip, actually in summerlin) go there every single time I visit
The Range - back on strip, it is rare that I don't eat here at least twice a year.
Legasse's Stadium - because of the sports book.
EDIT:
Can't believe I forgot my favorite sandwich place in Vegas:
Carnagie Deli - also under my favorite places. One trek, per trip, guaranteed. Pricey as hell, insane portions, amazing pastrami. And it is a trap. Located in the Mirage.Comment
