#424 queens and binion's are the same feed (cal-neva) I think. So that counts as 1 cuz they have the same lines, and I'm not sure some dude with a whiteboard and no tv is really a sportsbook

#45Just about all of them will, Nugget was the only place I had an isue. I played most of my plays at Binions, theyre running a line from Reno these days, cant remember the name of it now Cal-nevada or something like that. But all right in line or actually better than even Pinnacle. Boyds (freemont and cal club) will take 4K but their odds suck usually. 4 queens I think runs the same line as Binions, or a common line with one of the other places down there. 90% sure it is same as Binions. Plaza still runs their own line too but they are hit or miss they really watch for 'steam' but theyre really fast at moving shit.
All these places offer alternate runlines these days too but they dont post them so you have to get a sheet and then ask what current lines are so it lets them size you up sometimes which I never liked. Strip books actually post the alternate runlines but dont post the regular runlines which is sort of weird but I get it.
But you have Boyds lines, Binions (and that group), Nugget has their own line, Plaza has their own line, Leroys is at Fitzeralds and a couple others down there. Gold Spike used to have their own line now I think they have Leroys. I actually saw a 4 cent scalp between Binions and the Nugget on one walkthrough, which is almost unheard of in this day and age.
But overnight lines are all dime lines downtown, at the strip or most of them they have 20 cent overnights (some stay 20 cents with quick rolls to 30 cents)with very low limits, and most of those places dont open until 10 AM either which is after some games actually start. A couple do open at 9 but that is still pretty late considering how volatile and quick the MLB moves can be.
Like I said I was just goofing around with my wife and played a couple parlays and a few bigger plays to test the waters but still saw the obvious issues. I guess if you are carrying a pen and a rotation booklet they keep an eye on you, but if youre in a wife beater and flip flops carrying a corona with a lime half sticking out of the bottle you can make any bet you want to.Comment -

#48that might have been true 7 or 8 years ago but if youre posting up offshore these days for anything more than milk money youre stupid. At least for American guys who dont want to play at books who dont accept U.S. players. But I would say for 99% of the guys who post on the forums vegas is amuch better option, as long as you know what youre doing.Comment -

#54I don't give a shit.. When I go to vegas I get as drunk as possible with whoever I'm with and place a few wagers at any casino. I only really hang out on the strip because freemont is a shit hole. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.
It's about having fun because either way I'm not gonna ever be able to quit my job and be a pro sports gambler. If I win a grand or lose a grand, I still am going back to work and it had zero impact on my life really.Comment -

As far as flying to Vegas to make $100 bets. If youre spending 500 bucks to fly to Vegas youre a dumbass anyway, but besides that you still have cash in hand when you win. No waiting for Jose or Maria or whatever make believe name some clown in Costa Rica gave you to send your money to. Then wait 2 or 3 weeks for a withdrawal that they overcharge you for on top of everything else. if you get it at all.
Also on limits, sure in football you can get down just about any amount you want, thats why people should realize that betting football is pretty dumb, when books have massive limits on that but have ludicrously low limits on baseball or other sports that really should tell you all you need to know about the difference between those two betting options.
But in the end Vegas is about slot machines and these days it looks like penny slot machines that can cost as much as 5 bucks a spin with 50 lines and multiple coins per play options. That is the beauty of the approach vegas throws at people. Most people look at penny slots as relatively cheap and easy and harmless but if they paid attention they would realize they get a lot less out of those machines than they would taking a few spins on even a $5 machine. So sports and even table games arent a major priority. I would say that if most of the corporate bean counters had their choice they wouldnt take a single sports bet and would shut down the sportsbooks in every casino they run.Comment -

#57thats what I said veags is much better than online even if youre just goofing around. The best options for most people would be to find a bookie that would let you post up or set a limit on your action so you couldnt get yourself in trouble. not many of them around anymore if at all. because bookies dont like to babysit degenerates but local bookies would probably be the very best option for most guys who bet.Comment -

#59thats why the strip exists for people to blow money who dont care, which is the vast majority of people who go to vegas. Just about everyone goes with a loser mentality. if they win it is a surprise if they lose it is an expectation. That is why there are very few winning gamblers overall. the APPROACH is the biggest difference.

i wasn't talking just airfare
by the time you're done with airfare and either shuttle/cab and hotel for a couple nights i have no idea how you would be under $500
for the high rollers it might make sense but 99% of the guys here are not high rollers, they are guys betting $50 or $100 like i said
and depositing $1000 and taking a 20% bonus is much better than betting that $1000 in vegas with no bonus. i don't care if i have to wait a week for 5dimes or another top tier book to pay me, they're going to payComment -

#63you're a dumbass for spending $500 on a trip to vegas?
i wasn't talking just airfare
by the time you're done with airfare and either shuttle/cab and hotel for a couple nights i have no idea how you would be under $500
for the high rollers it might make sense but 99% of the guys here are not high rollers, they are guys betting $50 or $100 like i said
and depositing $1000 and taking a 20% bonus is much better than betting that $1000 in vegas with no bonus. i don't care if i have to wait a week for 5dimes or another top tier book to pay me, they're going to pay
But that also goes both ways, if you live a long way from vegas and it is an actual vacation for you and youre going for entertainment as well as gambling then do whatever. But you should still take advantage of the positives it gives you. regardless of whether or not youre a 50 dollar bettor or a 5k bettor. it is all relative.
I went this past weekend and stayed at the Venetian with my wife, got the best available (overpriced) tickets for the phantom of the opera show, took her to a few nice restaruant meals and we lived it up a little like 'tourist'. But that doesnt mean I wasnt looking to recoup all that money and then some by walking around down town to put my bets in at the best odds I could fine. so just because I did somethings like a sap doesnt mean I was doing everything like one. I had a house there for almost a decade and was basically a a resident but when I got married I sold the house and have only been back a few times. But it isnt like I forgot how to do things there.
Like I tell my wife, we have a lot of money but we still dont have enough nor will we ever have enough to overpay for something. She tries to get me to buy her this designer garbage or shit that is 2 or 3 times as expensive as it should be, trying to live the life. I tell her that it isnt happening. Can we afford it? Of course, and then some, but it doesnt mean we have to have it. I bought her a very expensive car, cost more than I wanted to spend but it had value and holds its value. So therefore she got it. Its 2 years old and still worth almost as much as we paid for it.
As far as the other stuff like depositing with offshore books. It would surpise you how many people have actually taken withdrawals from books, let alone withdrawals that represented an actual profit. Sure some guys might get a pay out here or there, but it for the most part doesnt come close to what they have deposited over the years. Again regardless of whether theyre small time or 'big' time. Why do you think so many stiff books stayed in business for so long? Because no one every requested pay outs and once the first guy did and they got complaints then everyone did and it snowballed.
But really if youre paying for everything on a trip to Vegas then you shouldnt be going there, even if it is a vacation. that place might be doing better but they certainly arent doing well enough to expect people to start paying full retail to come there and piss money away. But this is turning into a circular argument at this point.
But the cliff notes version, get more, pay less is basically all you should be concerned about. no matter how much money you have or dont have.Comment
