Yup its true. Press conference by NYRA at 1PM EST.
No reason to let the horse run and get hurt!
Also no reason to screw people that bet on him.
Glad to know the bet I have will get refunded since he won't start. Not sure about all books BUT i have a feeling some books have a rule that all bets on the race are action even if a horse dosen't start, that sucks for those people.

Everything takes a hit, history, the betting pools, and probably will never get to see I'll Have Another race again.

Not sure why the op was saying ha ha ha.. Anyone who enjoys horse racing really needed him to run for the industry. Not only that anyone who thinks it is funny to laff that a horse has screwed up one of his tendons and is now retired from racing is a sick ******* puppy.

Tendon tear or something to do with tendon.. Wont race again. What a shame for everyone who loves horse racing and horses. I am glad they didnt risk this horses life over the race, but horse racing really needed him to run win or lose.

maybe some sleepy books that still have race match ups still up. Sometimes it is action, not whether they start.

There's been like 20 threads on this! Merge time
This really does suck though.
It sucks for people who were gonna hammer I'll Have Another, and it sucks for people who were gonna fade him.
Lots of money that would have been gambled will now be gambled on other things/spent on food, family, etc. What a shame!!

cmon now.... even I have been playing horses for over half my life and freely admit that the game is 1. animal abuse 2. corrupt with collusion and other various forms of crimes (doping being top of the list) and 3. one of the worst mathematical gambles in all of betting.
nobody wants to see any racehorse get hurt but tell that to tens of thousands of sore and unraceable nickel claimers that go to the slaughterhouse unneccesarily each year.
wise up as a "good riddens" to horseracing is in the best interest longterm for almost everyone.

Aggh this sucks. Takes all of the juice out of the race.
On the bright side, at least I'm not NBC or NYRA right now, knowing I've just lost like half of my audience for tomorrow.

clearly you are a novice when it comes to horse racing. google parimutuel betting pools to avoid looking like a fool in the future.

Bowed tendon. Career ending injury for most horses. Some of the cheaper ones have this injury blocked with snail venom or something similar. They are raced (usually not more than 5-10 times) until the tendon pulls from the bone and then are put down. Basically a blocked horse cannot even feel his leg below the knee or stifle and runs like he is healthy until the injury cripples him, If you have ever seen a horse that raced blocked the day after that race, even the worst of you fuks would feel like crying.
There are a lot of trainers out there that claim or seek out a big hearted, speedy but crippled horse like this and profit from it's demise.

This is definitely fishy. Not someone taking the horse out though , more like with the fort knox security trainer Oneil wasn't able to administer his normal "pre race routine"

Its not a bowed tendon which is why this seems like a BS excuse to "wag the dog".Team Oneil says its just the beginning of a tendon issue.
"
The injury is not a bowed tendon, one where horses would often need a year or more away from the track to return. It is not life-threatening.
“A bowed tendon you actually have a large lesion in the core of the tendon,” O’Neill said. “This is the beginning of a tendon. Could he run and compete? Yes. Would it be in his best interest? No.”

You are going to debate that with someone who has shared ownership in more than you will ever be worth?
Ever buy a horse for 50 k and have to retire it after its maiden?
After spending another 30 k to get it ready to race?
