If the NFL season is called off....

    What happens to player contracts?
I mean like if a player is signed for 3 years.....does no season mean everyone is just a year less unpaid on their contract?

i'm not sure that the contracts don't freeze and then restart when an agreement is reached.

Pretty sure this is what would happen.

It could also end up part of the negotiations where if the season was not played, veteran players with X number of years would have the holdout year applied to their contract. It is doubtful there would be a lockout or strike, too much money is involved. At worst, I would expect a new CBA in place in August with a shortened pre-season.

Yep, this is how I feel as well. The players, especially the rank and file ones that make up the majority of the union, have so much more to lose.

Next week we will find out more, the owners find out if they have to pay their owns bills for the stadiums this year or if $4B out of a tv contract will. If they are awarded the money then the players are going to be screwed.

I feel sorry for all the babies born out of wed lock if they walk the line. Baby mommas are gonna have a hard time getting their checks.

EVERYONE stands WAY too much to lose if the season is called off. Owners lose, Players lose, online and offline media networks lose, workers at stadiums (concessions) lose.............the list goes on and on

    This will not happen.

The time on the contracts runs even when they are on strike but they do not get paid by the league. They may get a small kick back from the Players Union but that is all.

I think a lockout is certain..

The notion that it won't happen because there is too much money involved is not a very bright one... The owners do not make their living from their NFL team as most of them are bankers! To them owning an NFL team is like a rich guy buying an expensive car.. The team is their hobby...

Keep something in mind people; with deflation occuring and paycuts happening acrossed the board NFL players are NOT immune to this... Teachers, Pilots, Law Enforcement, factory workers... you name it they have taken or are in the process of taking a paycut or losing their jobs and these are the people who feed sports like the NFL...

This is a pyramid where the upper level can only exist with the support of the lower level so all you SBR f*ckheads stop thinking the NFL is god.. it's not... it's jessus...

the owners still get paid if there is a lock out or not with billions in TV revenue. They hold the cards and the union will cave in.
