West Indies tour of England 2012 will begin on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Lords in England.

Although the early part of their tour has been dogged by bad weather, batting collapses, travel issues and injury - if they can get their strongest team on the park, West Indies could provide some problems for England especially with the likes of exciting Brian Lara clone Darren Bravo, fast bowlers Kemar Roach and Fidel Edwards, spinners Narsingh Deonarine and Shane Shillingford, and old stager Shivnarine Chanderpaul who has just returned to the top of the ICC batting rankings.

England will start as favourites in the Tests with home advantage and conditions in their favour, but they must not show any complacency, and when it comes to the one-day matches then the tourists may have the edge with the gripping prospect of both a restored Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard among their batting line-up.

Broad Acknowledges West Indian Threat

The West Indies may have been written off ahead of Thursday's first Test at Lord's, but Stuart Broad insists that England will not be taking the tourists lightly.

The islanders have not won a Test in England for 12 years, losing 12 and drawing two matches during a period in which their team has regressed.
There have been suggestions of improvement recently, but the West Indies lost to the England Lions over the weekend to confirm that they face a tough task in the forthcoming three-Test series.

Nevertheless Broad is mindful of the firepower in the West Indian attack, which injury willing will be led by Fidel Edwards and Kemar Roach, as well as the presence of former England bowling coach Ottis Gibson.
The West Indies also have Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who is currently top of the ICC rankings for Test batsmen.
"They've got Ottis Gibson as a coach who worked within the England set-up for three years, they've got two bowlers who can bowl very quick, they've got Chanderpaul who's a world class batsman who's toured England on numerous occasions, so they're certainly a team we have to be very careful of," Broad told Sky Sports. "We have to perform the way we can perform and should perform. That all starts on Thursday.

"We won't look too far ahead in the series. We'll look to that first hour in the first Test match like we always do, try and set the tone and try and hit them hard."
