Try all the majors, unless your credit is <500, you should be able to get one, consumer credit loosening up. I only have a Cap One card that I've actually paid interest on once in 8 years and they just gave me an insane limit increase.

CITI-Card gives me the highest balance so I assume they are the best with low credit and/or students/younger people.

denied, They want me to sign up for a "secure" card where they give me a credit line based on a security deposit. Once they receive the deposit they will issue me a line of cred which can be increased over time based on payments etc...

CapitalOne gave me $1,000 limit years ago. Citi gave me $6,000 so it'd seem like Citi was a little more generous.

Ouch. I think you should switch your focus to obtaining your credit reports and trying to clean up some negatives.

At this point shut it down, if you couldnt get approved at credit one, you wont get approved anywhere, and now all you are doing is racking up inquiries on your report, which stick, and hurt your score for 2 years.

And to answer the question...I know it isn't gonna be what you wanna hear, but if you don't have cash to buy it(other than a house or automobile) you shouldn't buy it! Living debt free is the only way to fly! Good luck, sweep

Not always, Amex gave me a line of $5500 when I was 19 and I had to wait for a mailed response a week after applying.

Go with the secured card. After a year of timely payments they will usually up you to a normal card.

This was the one I went with after my credit was in the crapper. Held the card for 15 years but the fees and rates are high.

No need for a CC if your credit is already that bad you can't get a credit one card. If capital one denies you then it is real bad.
