Blame this on Charlie Manuel.

No reason the guy should have pitched 10 innings.

Manuel managing scared because he doesn't trust his bullpen and as a result Lee gets hurt.

Possibly the worst manager in baseball at this moment.

Matt Cain pitched nine innings.

Cliff Lee only had 90 pitches, while pitching to the third out of the tenth inning. I guess Manuel was too busy trying to win.

Oblique strains are like sprained ankles in basketball. Everyone gets them @ least once, and they occur for a variety of reasons.

Yeah but he should have been out after the 9th.

Matt Cain had a shutout going too in that game,threw only 91 pitches and was out after the 9th.

Difference is Manuel doesn't know how to manage properly and Bochy does.

Though I agree Charlie.is a terrible.in game manager, lee pitching the 10th was the right.move as.hr was only.at 91 pitches and was rolling through that sf lineup. I do still blame the loss on Charlie though. This is the second game in this short season he has lost to go along with the loss to pitt on Easter Sunday.. this team is not strong enough right now.to cover up Charlies screwups like they have in the past.

considering that he was injured in the next inning, how can you possibly make the argument that he shouldn't have been out after the 9th?

Especially when the opposing pitcher did the same thing and was pulled after the 9th, and is perfectly healthy and will make his next start?

yes that is true, but you cant blame it on being over pitched... he was still under 91 pitches, regardless what inning it was. He throws over 100 pitchers regularly

the reason cain was pulled was bc he was due to bat in the 10th.. if not, we very well could have seen him come out and pitch in the 10th as well

I will blame charlie for the retarded decision to hit a a non contact strike out machine thome vs a leftie with ruiz on 3rd with 1 out in the 11th though... just as I will blame him for pitching to Mccutchen with 2 outs and first base open on easter sunday...

2 losses early in the season bc of charlie... he is good for 5 losses most years, this yr maybe more bc the lineup cant bail him out

what a dikk response.

the fact is Lee was hurt in the 10th.

if he was hurt before that, that means charlie was pitching him while he was injured. at that point, manuel should be fired immediately.

of course, we know that he wasn't injured before the 10th because trying to pitch with an oblique strain would be obviously noticed.
