didn't 'dismiss' it. i said the constitution was only written for the whitest of the white men, it took years and years for women to get the right to vote, for blacks to get the right to vote, for blacks just to be set free from slavery.

the Constitution is not a perfect document, nothing in this world is. and its kind of ****** up to think we should base everything in our country on views that were held 300+ years ago by old white men.

not saying the constitution doesn't have any merit, it gives a-lot of rights. ( i am including the bill of rights in this talk so the additional 10 amendments)

so glad this type of views are dying out, it took years for blacks to get their rights after being set free. just a few decades ago there was black and white bathrooms in the south. hopefully in my lifetime gay rights will go just as far. its ******* sickening that so many young gay men are committing suicide because of people like santorum, and the far right.

The federal government (or state government for that matter) should not even use the term 'marriage' at all. If you want to have a 'union' for tax/estate purposes, fine. You can still get married in the church/synagogue/whatever. If that particular religious institution doesn't believe in gay marriage, fine...they can simply choose not to marry gay people.
