Exactly. I went for a job interview in a bad part of town and if I got the job
it would've been on night shift. I was going to buy a hand gun to keep in the car
for my trip home. My biggest fear was to be sitting at a light and have a crack
head, car jacker come at me with a gun.
Then I hear stories about road rage and people getting shot at. Some getting
killed because they accidentally screwed up while driving.
There's a difference between protecting yourself and acting like an idiot while
having a fire arm.

Why doesn't the government also allow our citizens to carry Black Mambas in your zipped pocket? Another little killer that is needed for our protection from "each other." Dumbest logic I have ever seen on this forum, I am reading.
Take the fkn guns away from criminals and "crack-heads," plus, all those other half-crazies that are itching for some macho altercations, and we are 50 times safer from killers that 'still' have their guns. Make it those that temporarily have their guns. In other words, throw all those guns we no longer need right into the oceans.
What a mindset gun's have helped instill into the brains of our American citizens.

It is actually sad to me that we live in a country that has afforded us such liberty, and we are trying to give it back. In the Declaration of Independence it lays the groundwork for why the 2nd Amendment exists. If at any time our Govt. Devolves into a Tyranny, it is our Right and Duty to overthrow it. We are the only country in the world that pre-supposes that it will devolve into abject Tyranny and affords the means to correct it. I am not some crazy militia member, or tin foil hat guy, but this is a sacred right that should not be taken lightly. The consent of the governed is the pact that we have with Govt. that we will give up some liberty for the greater good of man, but when the relationship becomes corrosive it is our right to dissolve it.
The argument that we do not need personal gun ownership because the National Guard is our "militia" is false on it's face. The National Guard takes their orders from the states in peace and Federal Govt. during war time, now that we have never ending wars on drugs and terror, it is up to people to arm themselves.
Like it or not this is the essence of being American,
I know in our current strive to be more like Canada and Europe we have lost track of our founding principles, I think it is a mistake.

Puncher, many many years ago worked a 7-11 type store back in the day. One day at counter, look up and had a compund bow loaded and pointed at my head from 3 yards away. Counter was in the way so couldnt rush them. Looked like a couple of smackies and at the time it felt quite surreal...
