100 billion market value what a joke....
10-20-30 years it won't even exist.
More people deleting accounts now than adding. There's little room left for growth.
Supposedly they did have ~$4 billion revenue last year.
Google is a company that will try to control the world, Facebook is just a fad like myspace that will be left behind as soon as a better "version" comes along.

Google opened in the $80s I remember when it happened.
Facebook posted 1.5bill PROFIT last year. I have set aside $2,200 at which I'll buy Facebook stock when it opens and see what happens

Timeline blows. But Facebook does have loads of eyeballs. People spend boatloads of time on Facebook pages. Not the easiest to monetize though. Think the valuation is a bit overdone. $50-60 billion looks about right. Not $100 billion.
To say they won't be around in 10 years is likely wrong though. Facebook is not Myspace. Myspace never made it past teenagers. Grandparents are on Facebook now.

A lot and a lot of people will buy shares just to say "I own part of facebook"
The biggest social trend in the last 5 years (fighting with twitter of course)..... A lot of people will buy just for the novelty.
I will set a sell order at 20% under what I pay though, and a sell order at 130% over

i think facebook has good long term value, really it is the social network. sure it has room to improve, however it has millions of members, and sure some people might be getting turned off by it, but there is some middle schooler out there signing up for an account for every one that leaves.
i love twitter, i always have, and thought its the better long term company. it has changed the world in so many ways, in bringing the news to theoutside world and help organize the protests in the middle east. really, it is the 'printing press' of its time, for leading revolutions.

I wonder if Zuckerberg will be the richest American within the next 5-10 years. Wouldn't surprise me. At least he's shown a willingness to live like a relatively normal human while giving a lot of it away. Mega-rich who hoard and have 10 homes in 5 countries and 800 automobiles, are nauseating.

Where do you get your stats from? Facebook considers an "active" user as someone who logs in at least once a month. Of the 800 million active users, a full 400 million log in at least once a day.
20 million apps a day get installed.

For those who think Facebook will be around for a long time, you probably think so because we aren't the average user...not even close
Google tried to improve upon fb by making a fb/twitter hybrid with + and that's failing. The reason why a better product isn't succeeding is because everyone is already at Facebook. When fb started getting parents and grandparents that was the end. It will take a generation for anything to replace it.

I won't be buying as I have difficulty seeing how they will monetize their user base without pissing them off so much they leave in droves.
That said, I thought the same thing about Google.

For as many american that gets upset over facebook for privacy issues/too many farmville bs/bored/etc there is 10 new accounts being open somewhere else in the world. I 100% gueesed on that number, but when traveling you realize that facebook is a status buider for young adults in third world countries.
They can grow a lot more.
I remember when people asked how google would make a lot of money and grow when they were just a simple search engine lol.

Google + is at 10% facebook. Very hard for someone to take over an established user base like this.
The only hope they have is everything being integrated with gmail/google/youtube/android/etc.
Since everything is going thru mobile these days.
If they wanted to be a big bitch, just ban any youtube being used on facebook and only allow it on Google +.
Facebook looks very 2007 and needs an overhaul.
