If they changed the rules slightly in the cases you cited that might be the spark that gets it over the top, as for wrestling i would actually prefer to watch a regular wrestling match because at least when they are on the ground the ultimate goal is to get a pin, these guys just flail around till the end of the round 9 out of 10 times, its boring because only once in a great while you will see someone get the submit or get them exposed and get some good face shots in. Its called ultimate fighting, i say let em fight.

Bingo, one thing ive learned is that most of these MMA people dont wanna listen to reason, i even said i wasnt shitting on thier sport but if you dont fully support the MMA then your a tool in their eyes, boxing has bad fights too just like MMA but not nearly as much. And the young up and coming boxers pummel the shit out each other, in MMA its the same wreslting shit most of the time no matter how hungry or how old and feeble fighters may be. It will never be as big as boxing, one of the problems is the fact that the sport is so saturated, there is a pay per view or a UFC every month like WWE wrestling. Theres a little too much WWE in the sport too is one of the reasons its not fully taken seriously. Like that idiot sonnen who fought hard for about a minute and then was blown up and flailed around the rest of the fight, and then did a full out WWE promo after the fight, that guy is garbage and thinks hes way better then he actually is. At least in boxing if a guy comes into a figth out of shape he will most likely get knocked out for entertainment value.

The UFC is going to get better ratings than the super bowl, because it has events every weekend instead of once a year! This sport will take off once all the events are on mainstream TV! Fighting in an arena goes all the way back to the gladiators in Rome, and before that I am sure. This sport isn't going away. Boxing has past it's prime and will fall off the map because the two best fighters in boxing are scared to fight each other. The UFC doesn't let the fighters decide the terms. The UFC lets the paying fans decide who fights who, and that is why it will never go away.

An unknown fighter fighting in the UFC can easily walk away with 20-25 grand, including win bonus and sponsor money. A boxer on that level can't walk away with more than $350.
