The novelty of it will wear off in a few days and nobody will care enough to check the box anymore. Most people who make new threads in PT are looking for as many views and replies as possible so it's not really in anyone's interest to prevent the majority of the forum from being able to reply.

traffic looks good to me and im sure sbr john/bill since the idea came from one of the largest mma forums that is doing well its not a bad thing for the forum.

Anyone with more than a few brain cells who actually wanted to have a serious handicapping, sportsbook or sports related discussion on here... or even gather input about what condom to use on their next date... would not limit responses to just one segment of posters. You're only screwing yourself over by doing that. And besides, most guys are too attention starved to even want to limit the number of people who could possibly reply. Look at the guys who start countless threads in PT when they bloody well know what subforum they actually belong in. Or the ones who cry when their threads are shipped to the Saloon. But if it makes a few guys feel like they'll finally grow hairs on their chests, so be it. We aim to please!

I'm not really sure why that is though. If I'm not working, the Saloon is the first place I check out. It's like that's where all the cool kids are, talking about the really funny stuff instead of locks, keyboard wars and air bets. Most people just use the View New Posts function anyway... and the ones that aren't, should. Best way to see it all.

jjgold I am glad to see there is a good guy that wants to hear from everyone. I think restricting opinions from non pros is just plain wrong. I plan to be a pro again but it is going to be next month since things have been so tough lately money wise.

I rarely use "view new posts" because my activity is limited to a few boards (PT, Sportsbooks, Saloon, Points to keep an eye on Carseller and an occasional drive-by to terrorize the newbies on the newbie board
