There are far more issues behind a weak dollar than a republican in office.. the dollar is traded on a world market, the people run that market.. our dollar is what WE make it... Wow, you just summed up the last 8 years. No president has grown the government more - no one has torn apart freedoms more and no one has delivered a more equal social class ever (although, outside a marxist diagram, there is a ruling/aristocratic class in the current model).
I should also note that no-bid contracts are as anti-fundamental of the "right" as you can get (you know, making market forces compete for dollars) - and extremely from the 'socialistic' camp -- yet they keep doing it and calling the left commies.

Very true that the dollar is connected to a countries debt, and the Bush administration has been awful as far as spending. There really needs to be a law written that forces the government to balance the budget.

Although it is not the only reason why the dollar is weak. As JRS said there is a world market, and other countries are catching up, it is not just the United States falling behind. There is the whole buying everything on credit which every American is good for, and the federal reserve that keeps cutting interest rates.
