OT - Deal or No Deal?
    What's the deal with this?

That's twice now I've gone to tape Conviction on a Friday night only to end up with an episode of this Howie Mandel game show.

I watched about 3 minutes of it and just got frustrated. I like game shows a lot but I don't get what is going on with this. Is there any skill? I don't see people answering questions or doing anything interesting.

Is anyone watching this? Does it get better if you give it more of a chance?

I don't watch it, but I love "prison Break" that comes on Mondays at 8. This Monday is the season finale. This is the first time in the hidtory of TV I have actually wacthed and liked a show during its original airing. Usually if I take a liking to the show, it is when it is in syndicationlong after the original air date.

I also watch "The Apprentice" on Monday night after Prison Break and after That Deal or No Deal reality TV faggot craze that this country thinks they like.

Reaility TV is boring and hopefullt this faggotness will end soon.

Those are the onlt two non-sport shows I watch.

Are you glad I told you?

Hey I like a good game show. I'm the biggest Jeopardy fan there is. I'm right into the Tournament of Champions right now.

But the thing is that there's a game going on. People are testing their knowledge and hand-eye coordination.

From what I could see, this Deal or No Deal was just Howie Mandel saying, "Would you like this box or this much money?" and the people were just taking a wild guess what the best deal was and it just went on and on like that.

This show caught my eye when channel flipping with all the hot models and after 5 minutes, my brain processed the following though.

            Worst. Show. Ever.

You need to brush up the percentages chapter in your maths book.

And back to the show, it's OK in the UK (it seems like every country in the world is showing it now) aside from the fact that the host (and the players) try to give the impression that it's a tactical game and they have a "system". It's not. It's a game where you pick a random box. You don't have "good feelings" about a box. Because it's a random box.

I hate it. I flipped past one time, and all the boxes that were left had amounts like $.01, $.05 and $.25. I think the backroom guy was making an offer of $.09. I don't know how people can watch this show. But, my parents love it. Although my parents are basically one step above drooling invalids, intellectually.

Deal Or No Deal is a fascinating real-life study in utility and risk tolerance.

Optimal strategy for the game can be derived using the Kelly Criterion.
