Ok, just confirmed with wife, not a crapper of any sorts(could have fooled me)
She claims it's simply a tree stump or log of some sorts and the man is shown resting and thinking about life.

Since when do people throw Rembrandt's in the dumpster?

You believe in it, you are loyal to it, would defend it, and yet have no proof of it, other than that, at one point or another, you chose to believe in it. Self-hypnosis. What if there were a snapping of fingers that broke the hypnosis?

Sure you did Fish.
I'm guessing you didn't buy a Rembrandt van Rijn, you do know/understand that Mikie Rembrandt from Reno isn't the same guy? Right?

I think Fish thinks the majority of dumbasses here will believe this.
Steve Wynn's last Rembrandt cost him 33 million dollars.

No, that was a Picasso.
Fish---this story of yours is in my wheelhouse. I have 9 art collectors as clients, who is doing your appraisal for this Rembrandt that you purchased? Did you get a carbon score with the purchase? and who has the insurance title on it now?
Are there palate markings throughout the brush strokes? How are they being preserved?

So an Auction House had a Rembrandt----and it sold for 2300 dollars.
Yeah, if I were you---you may want to fuking sprint to that Gallery owner you know-----not walk, sprint.
My guess though is you don't have a Rembrandt.
You are talking about a painting that would be 450 years old, and one of the most sought after works ever. You didn't buy one for 2300 dollars.
But it is a funny story.
People make this mistake all the time. Rembrandt had 2 dozen students who worked with him, and many copied his style (Broad strokes, knife markings on his palate)---Rembrandt used a specific type of paint, and the chemical composition of his paintings has been studied, examined and is now the most distinguishing characteristic of his works.
