I'm not imposing any morality on him.

I'm just saying, I think it's creepy to sleep with a baby corpse, and really creepy to take it home and show your kids it.

Who knows, maybe on judgement day we will all learn that we were supposed to play with our dead relatives---but as of right now, it's kind of creepy.

Karen Santorum wrote a book about the experience: Letters to Gabriel: The True Story of Gabriel Michael Santorum. In it, she writes that the couple brought the deceased infant home from the hospital and presented the dead child to their living children as "your brother Gabriel". The anecdote was also written about by Michael Sokolove in a 2005 New York Times Magazine story on Santorum.

"Rick and Karen Santorum would not let the morgue take the corpse of their newborn; they slept that night in the hospital with their lifeless baby between them. The next day, they took him home. 'Your siblings could not have been more excited about you!' Karen writes in the book, which takes the form of letters to Gabriel, mostly while he is in utero.
