It's hard to believe it, and I really hope this is nothing major for him. Excellent competitor and excellent player.
Adrian Peterson career possibly over

#42I love Foster too... and though I think he is great, I think he is partially a product of that system.. Steve Slaton ran for 1200+ yards and since can barely find a team.. That tells me a lotComment -

#45AP tears his entire knee up and a play later Ponder gets concussed. Injuries are obviously just a part of the game, but sometimes football seems like such a pointless fukking sport when so many great athletes have their bodies destroyed. This could end him.Comment -

#58Ugh, saw the injury. As much as I hate the Vikings, you never want to see that. The first guy I thought of when it happened was Edgerrian James, but realistically, Edge never really got it all going as good after his just ACL injury.
When MN selected Peterson, the first thing I thought of is that he was going to have a short career. He's a very high runner that is so violent/physical with his running, sooner or later, he's gonna get bopped on his knee. Al Harris got him his rookie year for a minor injury, but I'm really surprised it took this long.
MN is going to miss him a TON, I don't see how any back in the NFL today even compares to the guy. He's a freak of nature and was really putting himself into that conversation as one of the best of all time. Sad to see every year more and more RBs go down, but AP is different, he's one of the top players in the league. Hope he has a good recovery, but as far as 'AP being AP'? You can give him some long odds to return to form. It just doesn't happen.Comment -

Remember when you would play Tecmo Superbowl and hand the ball off to someone like Craig Heyward up the middle and defenders would just bounce off of him? He'd run it for 40 yards and eat up about half the quarter in doing so? That's what its like watching Toby Gerhart run.Comment -

#68We need big changes in the NFL.
It is a joke.
1/2 the games, who wants to watch?
How many starting QB's are out? (Manning, Cassel, Cutler, Campbell, Schaub, Henne, Vick 50%, Bradford 50%, McCoy, Big Ben...)
Star RB's? WR's?
Overall, how many teams have 8-9 starters (of 22) out each game?
Plenty!
How many are on IR for the yr now compared to 10 ys ago? 20 yrs ago? 30 yrs ago?
And dont blame it on the lockout, guys are in shape now and they are carting them off the field every game, week 16!
They are too big and strong and fast, pretty much are mutants, out there killing each other.
PED's aside, they would still gorge on creatine and pump weights, bench press 450, etc.
This will go the way of boxing, soon.
Did you see the special on Earl Campbell? He's about 57, played 25+ yrs ago, the poor guy is a wreck, and linemen weighed about 40 lbs less back then, and weight lifting techniques had not maximized to today's high tech approach.
There are all kinds of punchy, crippled players walking around that played 25-45 yrs ago and are in their mid-late 50's & 60's, their lives are in ruins, early dementia, artificial hips, knees, etc, a lot of things do not work anymore.
These days, concussions galore, poor Austin Collie... what a warrior... will be playing checkers in the park with 80 yr olds in 10 years. And losing.
THE ONLY SOLUTION IS: WEIGHT LIMITS.
AND BAN ARTIFICIAL TURF! DOMED STADIUMS, TOO, BRING IT IN FROM THE OUTSIDE FOR EACH GAME, PAY THE MONEY.
Lineman 270, LB's 220, something like that... weigh ins each Weds, or they sit, each player gets 2 lb mulligan 3 times a year. Maybe some kind of average with a line on the field. Plenty of rules but it is in the interest of the game.
To boot, who TF will let their kids play high school FB? 300 lb linemen there already, all over the place.
WEIGHT LIMITS. You heard it hear first.
