No idea what the NBA and Stern are trying to do with Paul.
This is bizarre.

Since the NBA owns NO, what exactly are they trying to do here?
What the Hornets are asking for is silly.
Paul has 1 year before FA, they expect the Clips to mortage everything for no guarantee beyond this season?

cp should be bale to successfully sue them he has enough evidence that they are trying to sabotage his career because the league has now shut down 2 proposed trades. It seems that although the league owns the hornets they are causing them more harm by vetoing these trades because everyone knows cp is not resigning next year.

Good point. And, the best part is----the first trade actually made New Orleans better.
These small market owners are crying so much, it is making it shit fest.

They want some stars to be in small markets. This is BS though. I hope Paul stays this year and sues the league for the lost money plus damages. I go to multiple NBA games every year, but I don't think I'm going to support this BS.

It would be great if all fans would boycott the NBA and all of their bullshit, maybe then they would wake up to the real world.

They are going to force Paul into staying in NO this year and think that after this year he wont leave the 30 mil on the table (the difference between a max bird deal and max FA deal). But of course he will, and these antics simply guarantee it.

It's insane what the league wanted from the Clippers. It was anyone worthwhile on the team. (except Blake Griffin) I'm sure they would have asked for Deandre Jordan also, but if the Clippers match the offer sheet he got from G.S., he can't be moved for 90 days.
All this so they can sell an overpriced team.

Either trying to keep Paul in NO in hopes of making it look good to a potential buyer. Which whoever has money to buy a pro team aint stupid. Or another rumor is of contraction. Blow the Hornets up.

What will provide a better return for the NBA, a team with a marquee player and not much else, or a young team that holds some high draft picks going forward?

I'm sure people will be lined up to buy the Hornets when Chris Paul leaves at the end of the season and New Orleans is left with absolutely nothing. I so can't wait for this to blow up in Sterns face.

Me to.
I understand why the NBA owns the Hornets and that's fine but that's where it should end. They should not have a hand in dealings with players on the team. The NBA should have set up a committee to oversee the team and stay the fuk out.

The league is trying to set up the Hornets to fail, so they can demolish the team from existence.

True and true. I wish the players had the guts to do it.
...And when the fans do it, it is called a boycott or not giving a rat's @ss anymore.
Can't stand Stern. These small markets need to get creative instead of trying to create Communism here.

Yeah, this has to be the case, because that is where this will end up. They'll say they tried everything. Should of never left OKC after that season, and the Sonics should of never left. That's another issue...

i'm reading that it was the clippers that nixed the deal. the nba wanted gordon and bledsoe + kaman and aminu and the #1 in 2012. being a clippers fan i really really fukn wanted to see cp3 with the clippers, but not sure how the team would work losing gordon and not having any shooters even with cp3. fukn greedy bastards. i'm almost wishing that cp3 doesn't get traded and the nba ends up with nothing in the end.

I think it's pretty clear that the league isn't going to let CP3 go anywhere right now. The original deal offered by the Lakers would have revitalized the NO team for the 2011-12 season, making them able to field a decent team and satisfy the increased number of season ticket holders. The Clippers deal was almost as good. As it stands now, no one is going to offer more for Paul with the clock winding down and several failed proposals publicly shot down by the NBA office. CP3 is just going to become more hostile towards the league intervention and more interested in leaving NO, driving a wedge between the fans and the team, but that's hardly going to be a motivating factor for other teams to offer more. Instead, it's a great motivator to lowball the Hornets on any offer made.
IMO, Stern and crew have decided that the team isn't staying in NO long term, and they're paving the way for the franchise to be bought and moved. I think that despite grassroots support for the team to stay in New Orleans, the lack of local buyers is pretty apparent and the team has less value locally than it would in another market like Vancouver, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and others that have previously expressed a desire for an NBA franchise.
Right now, the Hornets can't even put a complete roster on the floor, and there really doesn't appear to be any sense of urgency to prepare the team for the upcoming season.

Clippers killed it, but as you say, it was a result of the Hornets front office (or rather, Stern & associates) setting the price unreasonably high. Only a team with the depth not to need the superstar addition could afford to pay what they're asking.

However the Clippers have now claimed Billups off waivers, so I would think they've given up on Paul. If Billups gets on board with the idea of playing for the Clippers, that team could be interesting this year.

Stern is a big time Jew.
Jew community in Miami is huge, and strong.
If you are saying he holds a negative bias vs the Heat, then that's another story.
