murky stuff any clarity out there....
so heres how i got here, never bet on sports online at all, however i do play a ton of poker online, thought that was a little suspicious at times until i got involved in a search 4 an online sports book last week. My reason i figured the sabres to be a mortal lock in the series and wanted to bet on them. i had asked a fellow poker player if he could refer me to a site that if i won the money would be no problem. he gave me a name i forgot it, went on an online search found a real pretty looking site.....betus.com.....lucky me....but i was not to be stupid(LOL).....so instead of filling out the registration form.. i called them first ...got a real nice guy(LOL .. as i would find out later). he anwsered all my questions and i was pleased to find out i could bet thatseries for any amount then cash out vie western union asap..although he was honest abpout one thing in that if i wanted to do that i would not be entitled to a bonus.I told him im not interested in any bonuses.ALL WAS WELL.when he told me to go back to the site register accordingly then call him back for a western union name so as he could get his percentage..he was being honest with me bout that.so i went hung up the phone went back to the site registered called him back he gave me the w.u info i told him to be expecting 4k tomorrow via w.u. then his mistake i asked him where he was he said costa rica and his company had offices only there no where else. conversation over and im about to send this thieve 4k...lucky for me it was 4 am and i could not find a w.u office till 10 am.ended up checking out spotrsbetting reviews found you my eyes light up when isaw betus.com on yourblack list then all the other stuff i read...wow was i happy.......but then guess what went to another review joint wagermajor or something like thaat. they tell me on there site that its ranked number1 fast paypouts etc etc........then i check out a few more some rank it hi some low why such a differnece on many ofl these review sites???.......ANYONE..... IN POKER its common knowledge as to the best and safest sites.....why does it not seem thatway onsports betting sites. then i go and see they have offices in montreal on an indian reservation. thats when i knew he wasnt getting my money he had lied in that he had told me offices only in cost rica...anyways its to late for me to bet the sabres and the series is tied up 2-2...HOWEVER next series is not far away so can anyone out there recomend a good and safe place to bet..................................... .........ty

First of all, welcome to SBR. SBR is the best because Bill Dozer will go after the sportsbook if they try to cheat you in any way. But, stick to SBR's B+ or better books, and you're money should be fine, and if you ever get any trouble, SBR will go to bat for you, but it shouldn't really be necessary with a B+ or better book. We might quibble about email response speeds, but payouts are never really a concern with these books.

As for why the various message boards having different ratings for the sportsbooks, it comes down to advertizing dollars. The more they get paid, the higher the rating, get it? SBR claims to not be "bribed" by advertising concerns, but I'm not SBR staff, so I'll defer to them to give an "official" explanation. One thing for certain is that SBR does more legwork and auditing of the various sportsbooks than the rest of the sites combined. Bill Dozer is constantly visiting Sportsbook X or Sportsbook Y and reporting his findings on a weekly, if not daily basis. Plus a variety of other audits sometimes growing out of a player getting swindled in one way or another.

Stick to this forum and you'll have the best results. If you just want to bet, use Pinnacle and never look back. Pinnacle has the best lines 80% of the time, with the highest limits, great CS, payouts are lightning fast, etc, etc. I don't know why anyone wants to play at any other book right now.

Welcome to the forum Al. Thanks for posting. Glad you did some homework and decided not to go with betUS. You would probably have been alright there - then again maybe not. If you do a search, you can see some discussion about them. It is a controversial book. "Controversial" is not where I want my money.

Other than that, Slacker has given you a good answer. Anything I say beyond that would probably be overkill.

BTW, you can still bet that Sabres series if you want. I'm not seeing anything on the board right at this second - books are focusing on the series with games today - but there should be series prices out well before the next game goes off tomorrow afternoon.

pinnacle is probably the best for lines and such. there are a lot of books that are safe out there and pinnacle is certainly one of them...especially if you are going to be placing bets the size of 4k. I've heard pinnacle takes 6 figure bets routinely and even 7 figure if requested. Trust me, i could have a million dollars in my pinnacle account and I would not lose a wink of sleep.
