#7Owners fault for overpaying garbage players. Hopefully many players go overseas to stay playing quality ball. College is where it's at anyways. NBA players don't even try many games.Comment -

#8So will all the players go overseas. Lots of leagues. NBA could die. Way to go owners. Players can join leagues overseas. Owners can't start a new league without players.Comment -

#9blessing in disguise, sucked at betting nba but always did it anyway. stern too smart for this bullshit, he will see through player's union juvenile stammering and players will lose badly. sad for nba players who would've played for 5 or 6 million and who couldn't care less about 1%.Comment -

#11Even 1 missed season is too painful for most players. They can talk whatever they want right now but it will be different story when season is gone and every player has lost millions. After that they will take any deal and this is exactly what owners wantComment -

#12Two years, i have a hard time believing that, the players will come back with their tail between their leagues if this lasts in till the spring. and accept a 48.9-51.1 split or some 'agreement' of the sorts.Comment -

Owners can start their own league and there will be plenty and I mean plenty of players who will come forward to play in NBA for less salaries.
23 out of the 30 NBA teams are losing money. Without a season, owners are saving money.
When players realize all the above facts, they will come crawling back. They will get hammered in courts too.
This is good for NHL and NCAAB.Comment -

#18Owners overpaid mediocre players with monster contracts, so they don't mind having those off the books (a lot of them were losing money anyway).
Owners are in a win-win situation. The top ones may be hurt a little financially, but they have other ventures and are the richest anyway.
Players, meanwhile, will start to hurt. Quickly. Like vyom said, they'll come crawling back at some point.Comment -

Let them go play overseas and find out how much little they get paid compared to NBA. There are more stricter conditions as well.

Also, you can't seriously believe that 23 NBA teams are losing money. If so, I have a bridge for sale.[B][B]They key isn't getting rich quick. The key is getting rich slowly, and enjoying it.

#27Who exactly rejected this deal? Every single player in the NBA or only the Union reps? Fisher and the players that were at the meetings today are the ones that voted this down... I seriously doubt every single player was allowed to "vote"...Comment -

#29bad title, its not a strike. It is a shame that the players were willing to take the owners' BRI split they proposed, but the owners just refused to budge on system/allowing player movement. Should be interesting what happens in the players filing antitrust lawsuitsComment -

#30I lol at people saying " the players can go overseas but the owners cant get more players". 95% of the owners of the NBA or any sports franchise in general own a team for kicks. None of them expect to make a profit and all would be fine breaking even. Its a hobby to them. You really think the nets owner or mark cuban need there team to survive? 85% of the nba players will be broke in 2 years. The other 15% will play for a median salary of 2 million a year. The players lose, the nba loses , but the owners dont care and their not affected.Comment -

#32And the owners could easily start a new league. The bottom 85% of the league would still play in the USA, and you get top college talent for 3 years and the league will be right where it left off.Comment -
