This is so simple, yet so effective. You Uhmurkuns wonder what has happened to your economy. You SOLD IT OUT, that's what happened. You'd rather employ Sri Lankans and Indonesians than your fellow Americans to save a quarter for each widget you produce. I've taken many economics courses. I can tell you that IN THEORY, what you are saying is correct. However, IN REALITY, you see what has happened when countries produce goods they are efficient at producing. It leads to the destruction of jobs in nations that have lost those industries.

By the way, you are confusing EFFICIENCY with CHEAPNESS. The only reason why the USA shipped off their manufacturing to other nations is because they could produce it cheaper, not more efficiently. The USA is actually still a very efficient nation, the problem is that Americans would rather have cheap goods than goods that are slightly more expensive with a greater quality.
