I just checked over keeneland race 10 in specific and it was kept open until the very time of post, I even entered a wager right at post time, please let me know of a specific race you see off when it still has a few minutes to scheduled post time.

Glad I could help, about the payout, that is always the case for horse wagers, you actually don't know the payout until the race is over and results are posted, you do get possible odds but the exact number is not given until the end
