Ya Im not gonna get into poker strategy here but (in tournies) basically once your M < 10, you should be jamming a huge range especially when your table is weak-tight. You only need about 35% equity against a range of like 22+, AT+ for it to be a profitable play every time. Thats basically anything like KJs, A2-A5s type hands + the obvious ones. The bigger your stack relative to effective stack, the more you should be pushing as thats when your fold equity is at its highest. You could probably show profit jamming with the top 30% of hands (includes garbage like A3o, TJo, T8s, K4s etc).
Again, this is all when your M < 10, which is 75% of these tournies.
I guess I shouldnt have said pro, as I would technically classify myself as semi-pro since I'm still in school. It's just my only reliable source of income; sports betting doesnt count for me, its just a hobby. Its how I've paid for school and expenses so far but it's really a grind as any who have done it at a decent level semi-professionally will tell you. Its not the lights and glamour that they show on TV. Its grinding 4-10 tables for hours at a time online and it's pretty stressful. I dont play as much as I should anymore since Im focusing more on school now and my girlfriend doesnt really like it. Also, I play 6-max cash tables not tournies, where the strategy is completely different. Tournies are way too much variance and you need to run like 10BI above EV to final table a 500+ person one.
Sports betting and playing for points is really a kind of relaxation for me since I only bet like $10 a unit and I love watching sports.
I wish you all the best! Good Luck

Most poker pros have a big bank roll and or are staked into the big tourneys
Example: i was on the table in the tourney where moneymaker won his wsop seat. half way through the tourney I have aces and he has 5's and we are even in chips. He gets a 5 on the river and next thing you know he wins wsop and i get shit. He would of never won the wsop if not for that.
If your a pro poker player you aren't playing sbr poker unless you a broke degen which maybe true since they and we are on sbr playing sbr poker

If poker pays for your house, cars, living expenses and you do not work then maybe I can say you have some skill
But most people that play poker daily are broke

I consider myself semi pro playing since 2004 cashing most days. Yesterday I did win Cake gold card event which I am currently specializing in having over $1500 invested in Gold Cards. I play these from 4 sites where-as other pro's don't catch on to my style. Black Friday has hurt greatly but still 6 digits yearly is the goal. I am also enjoying Bodog promo of weekly 5K freerolls having cash in the first one finding them extremely easy with great payouts. 130 players paying 53 at least $22 when betting only $25. One must OPT into this promo to qualify.
I feel that there are several semi pro players here but NO Pros, ttwarrior1 is neither. He is quite below par showing no improvement in years. His bankroll is zip and not even capable of playing here for points.
TT you need not to boast as you are nothing! Post results or shut up!
Listen people, ttwrrior1 is not pro nor even close to it. High stake is $5. to him and he can't muster that up. He is nothing more then a forum junkie being a pain in several of them.

So if I have lets say a $100,000 bankroll and I start playing poker at tourneys and after a couple years I lose it all I'm still a Pro player right?

For fukks sake. There are ZERO pros playing here. The exchange on 1000 points is like 50 euros and max 1 table running at decent enough limits even at peak times. People are making a living 2 tabling 50 NL point 6 max (which is what runs most often)? Where do you people live Cambodia? If some player claims to be a "pro" the big red flag is why the fukk are they wasting their time here instead of maximizing earn somewhere else? What you might have is winning amateurs, online remnants of the boom who used to beat party but now can't cut it, lol live rocks who think the RNG is out to get em, busto tourney horses or what is most likely the case unemployed people that play poker who claim to be pros because it sounds better. Use common sense.

I play poker live ~40 hours a week to pay bills and such, also hold another job, and I even play in the SBR tourneys and cash games at times, you have to realize that playing at 10am on a weekday you're just going to run into other pros.
The successful players treat it like a job, show up, work hard, and go home, take days off and try not to think about it when you're not there.
With decent knowledge of the game you can average 100 dollars a day 1-2 NL or 1-3 NL. That's enough to be pro, I did that for 2 years.... play 2-5 a solid average would be 200, but there is much more variance and better players typically, Once you start hitting 5-10 or 10-20 things get tougher, bigger bankrolls, more aggression, more big decision poker...
You would be surprised how many successful players there are, and I would say that people who play every day are generally successful, you just have to find the tables with bad players or big risk takers.
I played with Antonia Tarver last night, great guy, big bankroll, big risk taker, not a great player... find people like this and you can make money.

what No1 here say is absolutely correct, i highly respect him he is one of the few guys here who really knows what he is doing, semi pro is the right i think, for myself, i am getting cash everyday to play poker from Blackmoonpoker and at the end of the month they participate in my winnings or cover my losses, and from time to time they send me to live tourneys,80% i am playing online, so i have the time to play at SBR poker which is fun,as i am a sportsbetter and hanging around here so why not play poker,i play on Poker Stars ,some EURO Site and SBR Poker at the same time ?? whats the problem ,important is people here should enjoy playing poker, SBR is great and have so much to offer, its all for free and is fun, so let people take advantage of it, peace

Exactly, I know more than a couple "Professional Poker Players"...there is a big difference between being a professional at playing poker, and being a professional poker player.
The guys I know, fly out to Vegas a few times a year, buy into some bigger sized money tourney's, hit a couple cashes a year, just about break even, and end up on the websites in rankings and things...I mean, they are listed on some joe schmo websites about having cashed in X tournament and Z tournament, whatever, but they didn't make any money doing it, and all have great 9-5s that pay all their bills.

All pro's have backers and sponsors.
You wonder why Ivey and Patrick Antonius barely flinch when they lose a huge pot.....they are playing with your FTP money.
Without backers and sponsors, 99% of "pros" would not even be able to play poker.
When you see some of these guys win a million dollar tourney, sometimes they are lucky to even get 10% of it.

There's a few people on here capable of being pros, there are some that post here who are, but for most us it's not worth giving up a good job of reliable and stable income for one that would require more hours (and a lifestyle that is geared more towads working later in the night) and one where the income fluctuates or is even negative due to variance on a month to month basis. That and many people just aren't located near a casino. The shade of hope for several people becoming pro was crushed April 15th. Everyone's personality is different, but I haven't met many pros who come out beating their chests screaming "I'm a pro" without being asked because they treat poker like a serious job. Like Mr. Market said, especially in this environment, it's not worth a pro to grind out hours for SBR Points when his time can be better spent elsewhere. I'll just have to stick for poker being a "2nd job" or hobby for me. Maybe that'll change one day when the Casino in Gretna opens up and the economy falls even further into the shitter.

SBR has been giving the posibilities to some of us who love the game to earn those points that are real cash in some poker room and improve ourselves to become a better players, now i know that here there are some semi and pro players that enjoy the stress free play. To say that there are not people that do not make a leaving ( maybe not a luxurius one) from poker is in my opinion it is very narrow point of view.
Many of us are grinding in torunaments or cash games suffering the ups and downs, but at the end only a hand full of players probably are profitable,
I only wish one day to take a sabatical and only play poker for a few moths just to experience the real pro poker world, but before that, the most important thing in poker is economics, that means a good bankr roll and a better bankroll managment,.
