team is already out to kill in preseason No team is going to go Gungho for 20 weeks straight and maintain a high level of play. All it will take is one team playing well in one game to catch the Pats in an off game, and that's going to be in the playoffs when they are out of gas

last year they blew it in December, specifically the Jets game

2007 blew it in playoffs than 2 weeks layover til SB and they were flat

I am not sure if they will or not but they look like by far the best team in the NFL so far in this young pre season...they have made drastic improvements on the d line...

The sad thing is, they're not trying that hard on offense. They started an undersized rookie at LT against Tampa, they did lots of situational stuff with Hoyer and others, etc. Tampa just didn't come to play at all.

They'll probably have a really bad game around week 10, when the schedule is tough, the question will be if they can recover in time for the playoffs and actually show up to play in that first game (obviously assuming they make the playoffs, if they don't, its all moot)

If the D line plays up to their potential they could be a major factor come January. Offense is top 3, but they need to be able to run it well the last 1/2 of the season, not just the first half. Should be fun to watch!

They do have a tough schedule but I think they'll win it all this year. Their problems were defense and lack of a running game which they've since remedied.

How do you know their D will be better?? All they picked up was a bunch of castoffs and added a few rookies that cannot be trusted......They're still a soft fukkin team that will lose in the playoffs to a hard nosed club that wants it more (Jets last season, Ravens the year before)

I think weeks 8-13 are worse. The only tough road game early is against the Raiders. Not worried too much about the Steelers either... for some reason the Pats own them, no idea why. Brady usually dominates.

If they can go 4-2 in this stretch, I will be thrilled. Last 4 games are a joke (Washington, Denver, Miami, Buffalo), so surviving the 8-13 stretch is key. They need to show up at home against the Chargers and Boys, but those should be wins.

You haven't paid any attention to the Pats yet this year, have you? New defensive scheme that fits their deep d line and athletic LBs, Leigh Bodden back at CB which is huge, and most importantly, a pass rush. Hoody is going to throw some crazy shit at opposing QBs this year. Last years rebuilding year is looking like its paying off so far. Obviously its a long season, but everyone has been promising, other than Meriweather, who's probably on his way out anyway.
