i mean it not bad for Tor because they didnt give up a whole lot and Rasmus is very cost effective for the next several years. He just isnt ever gonna live up to what ppl wanna project him to be.
and at the same time this should work out very well for stl. that how we do business here in da Lou, everyone wins.Comment -

#40Good trade for St. Louis in the short term. They fill a starters spot and improve the bullpen, while Jon Jay is currently a better hitter than Rasmus.
Good trade for Toronto in the long term. They receive Rasmus, who has a lot of upside and potential, without giving up much. Zach Stewart has some potential, but probably only as a 4th or 5th starter max. Bullpen guys are always replaceable, so no big loss there either.
This trade gets Chicago a prospect in Stewart and a decent reliever in Frasor, plus some salary relief with the Jays taking on the contract of Teahen. I think Chicago is worse overall today though, then they were yesterday.Comment -

#43Jason Frazor is easily the Jays best reliever and is a very solid pitcher overall.
Im a jays fan and I watch alot of jays games.
Also Mark Rzepchinski is solid.
Jays did lose some pitching to get Rasmus. Lets hope his attitude problems stay back in Stl.Comment -

#44Rasmus very well may end up being a bust, but the jays didnt give up shit for him, ryzcepski is a gascan, everytime he would come in, he would blow it, duncan may be able to help him, but he is nothing special. Average stuff at best, and dotel is a journeyman. If rasmus can put up half decent numbers, I say very good trade for toronto. AA knows what he is doing, I doubt he overpays him if he does well initially. He almost didnt pay bautista and even then signed him to a steal of a contract, hes not an idiot.Comment -

#51that is exactly what will happen. he been over privileged his whole life and ppl dont change very often. These mlb network assholes cracking me up acting like Jays are big winners with this deal. i mean i dont know about the lefty reliever but Cards dont generally make moves where the other team is "big winners".
Like i said im sure these comments will get bumped to shit when he goes on a tear soon as he touches down but it all false hope, everyone that bumps my comments the next month or 2 because Rasmus plays well just remember to bump this shit in 2 years when he turns out to be exactly what im saying he is.
Sabergeeks love this pussy but that the problem with sabergeeks, they seriously lack creativity or imagination because they let formulas dictate their lives. aint no formula to measure pussy, watch this kid lazily play the outfield and tell me what potential he has. sure he will make a great play from time to time and flash his talent but what you dont see are all the ignorant mental mistakes he makes in every game. You cant make a kid want it more, hell id kill to have Rasmus if he was mentally wired like jon jay but id take Jay all day cause with limited tools he makes everything out of what he has and doesnt take the gm for granted.
A duck will always be a Duck and Colby will always be a lazy uninspired player that does just enough to make teams fall in love with the physical ability.
They gave up NOTHING to get a young CF'er with some real superstar potential
He does have some real issues (his atttidue, dad etc) but even if he sucks... Toronto gave up NOTHING for him.
I'd also like to note that Atlanta fans claimed the same stuff with Yunel Escobar when Toronto got him (for nothing again). He was hated by every member of that team + Bobby Cox and he has been nothing but a great player for the Jays

#55A couple of months of Frasor + a decent, young, left-handed arm in Rzepzinski. And Zack Stewart: apparently he was the No. 4 prospect in the Jays organization. Doesn't seem like a steal for a player whose head may never be in the game, even if he has 5 tools.
Then there's all the bits and pieces. With all the contracts and draft picks and 3 more players (or cash) yet to be shipped, I find it far from clear who got the best of this trade.Comment -

My guess is this douche will be great at 1st and jays fans will think they got a great deal. that this assholes MO he prob "happy" atm and it should take a minute for AL to figure his stupid ass out, wont hurt that Jays are always basking in obscurity as he doesnt like "pressure", plus im sure he would like to get a little arbitration money after the season. Dont worry tho even if it works like that the shit show will pick back up next seasonComment -

Rzepczynksi's contract was also going to be up at the end of the year. Unlikely to be re-signed considering he has never really panned out as they hoped despite having sick stuff

someone fukkin lied to you, this kid has absolutely no makings of a star let alone a "superstar", give me a fukkin break ive watched him since day 1 and nothing about him says star, well except the stat geeks who rave over this clown and his "tools".
BTW i was dying for stl to get Escobar...sure im a Cards fan but if you have ever read my post you would realize im not some dipshit fan that is exaggerating Rasmus's flaws out of spite, i evaluate talent and this kid will never be a "superstar", at best 2 time all-star and that very best case...I was also the 1st one i know that was screaming dump JD drew, how did he turn out? overpriced and underachieving.Comment -

#64They stole him because plenty of teams wanted Rasmus and they got him for very little.
You can bash him all you like, but he's 24 and already an above average centerfielder.
Cards had issues with him and his father, so they traded away a talented 24 year old for not nearly enough in return.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

above avg? go watch some tape then come talk to me. not his little highlight reel you saw on espn. Or some metrics.
Jackson was more than enough for a guy who will never be much of anything, no one else stepped up and gave more while you acting like the whole league wanted him. yea tor got him cheap cause sox were dumping a pitcher Cards obviously liked. we got a couple solid relievers, a sp with just as much unrealized talent as Rasmus, and players or cash considerations later for a guy that no matter how you spin it has not proven shit in this league and never will....Comment -

i hate to agree... Rasmus did hit 23 homers and 12 stolen bases. The guy will be a 20-20 player. But the coach and player fought and ownership sided with the coach. So good riddance young baller, just wish we would have gotten a piece of the future back for youComment -

Put your bias aside and see what everyone else sees. Have you noticed that no one agrees with you?
He's already proven he's an above average player, and since he's still young, he may become a very good player. I don't know if he'll become a star or not, and neither do you.
As has been said, there were issues between him and the coaching staff, and St. Louis management decided he had to leave. I guess that cost them leverage, but they still should have been able to get more for a guy that's pretty highly regarded, no matter how many times you insist that he's garbage.[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

#69I don't know why you hate him so much, but he's clearly above average. It's not debatable.
He never will? Really? Not many guys have done what Rasmus has done at the age of 24.

normally most around here dont agree with me which suits me just fine, actually prefer it that way cause i like to be right. i am probably more unbiased about my team and/or players than anyone around this joint and anyone that talks to me would back that up.
how the fuk is a .240 hitter above avg? there a reason him and Larussa never saw eye to eye, it because Tony doesnt like weak minded, snot nosed, spoiled bitches. Ive had plenty of issues with Larussa over the years but he spot on with this kid, he simply doesnt have mental capacity to be great. Sure he could be solid, jd drew was solid for a time (as well as overpaid) and never blossomed into what everyone projected. If he simply turns out to be a solid player then who cares if Cards gave him up to bolster their team right now? not like they cant find another decent player down the line.Comment -

im pretty sure ive been well aware of the situation between Rasmus and the coaches long before most. And yes they should have traded him last off season before it got worse and again yes they lost their leverage. if i said "garbage" (which im sure i did), of coarse that is a overstatement, but no more of a overstatement than the praise his "potential" is getting around here and in blogger world by espn bobbleheads.Comment
