I agree with the post above. I may be wrong, in which case it takes years. And then, what happens for assholes like myself that are subject to drug testing for my job. Will I ever be able to smoke a joint again without someone looking over my got damn shoulder?

#47When I worked for law enforcement, there were only two times that I would make an arrest for smoking weed. Remember that posession of a samll amount was an infraction, not a misdomenor, which is an arrestable offense. If I caught someone somking weed and driving, they would be arrested. The only other time would be if the suspect was in possession of an amount larger than the law allows for the offense to be considered an infraction.Comment -

#50Most disillusioned people still consider marijuana a gateway drug.
I could never figure out how marijuana somehow lead to heroin use.Comment -

If the gov`t is going to make reference to "gateway" drugs, they might at least tell the got damn truth. Coffee, tobacco, sugar, etc...
I have typed it before, I will type it again - the only reason the government is able to step on the people is because we are not united.
Go Canada!! At least there the gov`t (police) overlook weed unless you are acting like - well, an American!!
B t w, I am not Canadian, I just know GOOD when I see it!Comment -

It is not, but fuksticks that have never smoked believe this trash and tons of other bs Hitler propaganda against the worlds greatest plant.
It stands to reason if you are willing to try something some other asshole tells you is bad (weed), that you are more likely to try other things, in no way does smoking lead to doing anything else, for me it leads to doing much less. By smoking in the 1st place you are showing your willingness to try things others have deemed "bad".

#53I have to say that Ron Paul had gotten this one right. I don't think its going to happen but it sure would help the debt problem though. They would have to do it right and it will work great. These people that don't like this idea is going to go nuts.Comment -

#55USA laws way too weak!
Nation spends way too much time & money trying to stop illegal drugs!Politicians would NEVER have the balls to draft legislation where three SEPARATE felonies result in a MANDATORY death sentence with no appeal rights.I propose harvesting organs before death to those in need OR death sentences carried out by viewer's choice on pay per view for $59.95!How does that grab you?Comment -

Today, a handful of visionary and courageous Members of Congress, led by Rep. Barney Frank, introduced the "Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011," a bill that would treat marijuana the way alcohol is treated under federal law. It would give each state complete freedom to regulate marijuana in the manner it believes is in the best interests of its citizens. If a state wants to make marijuana available to patients, it can. And if it prefers to make marijuana legal for all adults, it can do that, too.Comment -

#58Just because Walgreens starts selling weed or crack or heroine doesn't mean people who don't use them now will suddenly go out and buy them. If someone wants drugs now they can and will get them. Prohibition, whether drugs, guns, alcohol, prostitution, poverty or whatever has proven to be a failure over and over again but the ignorance of Americans and our politicians and the unwillingness to stand up to organized religion seemingly knows no bounds.Comment -

"House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith, R-Texas, said his panel would not consider it.... “Decriminalizing marijuana will only lead to millions more Americans becoming addicted to drugs and greater profits for drug cartels who fund violence along the U.S.-Mexico border. Allowing states to determine their own marijuana policy flies in the face of Supreme Court precedent."
Maybe the bribe did not reach him in time .. this is the man who will gladly take money from Big Pharmaceutical companies ($48k) and Beer, Wine, Liquor companies ($30k) ... i'm not sure he is in the least bit worried about Americans becoming addicted to anything .. he is just pissed that he did not get get a payday from this ...Comment -

#61I am disagree that pro-marijuana groups amend new law with legalized reason. it cause chaos anywhere in US plus overflow import more drugs from our borders Mexico. I disagree everyone grow there own garden with marijuana. everyone become extreme smoke under influence (SUI) or High under influence (HUI). also I am concerning with our children and their children under influence in public area or in home. It must banned for life.Comment -

#62When President Obama set up his website to get people more involved in being citizens they overwhelmingly asked him to address the marijuiana laws...and he just brushed it off. I guess he knew the cons would jump down his throat and call him the dope president--which I suppose they would have.
It would be awesome if Ron Paul gets a chance to steam-roll the conservatives who see anti-drug as pro-family. Plus he's always had the right take on entangling alliances and foreign wars.Comment -

#63years back when i was in school we learned about marijuana in health class in jr high school and they referred to it as the GATEWAY DRUG
i agree it is a gateway drug
ask any drug addict in recovery they will tell you
But at the same time just because i cant smoke pot doesn't mean everyone else cant.
if they legalize it so be it. that doesn't mean you have to go buy some and smoke it. i do believe that more will smoke it if they legalize it. it want be todays citizens it will be todays children who try it its legal if your 19.Comment -

#64there is no reason to act like legalizing this and taxing it will fix any problems. Do people really belive that pot smokers will jump on the chance to help government by paying taxes on the pot they buy? No they wont. They will still use and not pay anything in taxes. Why would they?
The if you cant beat them join them argument is stupid. Governments cant tell middle America that they are paying for there kids schooling and paying for police with money they made from pot.Comment -
