Guys, we're five games into the season. I dare any of you to put a couple units on a prop bet saying the Red Sox aren't going to make the playoffs. While their starting pitching is just average, and their bullpen is about the same if not a little worse, they have the hitting to make the playoffs. They are essentially built like the Yankees in the middle of the last decade, they have the hitting to win enough games to get to the playoffs, but you have to wonder if they have the pitching (aside from Lester) to make a deep run in October. Crazy enough, though, October is over 5 months away. You're all going to make predictions based on five games? Come on.

The last time I saw the Red Sox in the playoffs, they were in Fenway, v. angels, Sox up 6-4 in the ninth, game 3, must win, the savior, Paps-smear on the mound, no way Sox lose this, not with the pathetic 7-8-9 in the order coming up game 4 here we come tomorrow.

Gonzalez has solid defense at first
Outfield is great with Ellsbury,Crawford, and Drew/Cameron???
Only hole is possibly catcher but even Varitek has great defense.

They should have a designated catcher position, LOL. VTek is without a doubt the best catcher in the league at calling games, but he's borderline useless everywhere else. Although, IIRC, he hit fairly well last year . I can't remember haha
