White Sox game was painful to watch. Their 8 and 9 slots get on 2nd and 3rd, No Outs, top of lineup goes down in order..
Their pitcher gives up 1 run all game and they lose 1-0, to make it even worse, they started the top of the 9th with an out, 3 consecutive walks to load the bases, and a .179 hitter grounds into a double play and it's ballgame over.

the cubs did almost the same thing. bases loaded, 1 out, and fontenot tried to score from 3rd, for no reason, and hes out. the next guy walks so instead of being down 5-4 with 1 out, bases loaded and d lee up...well...
better to be lucky.

The 0ER stat was almost meaningless in this game. Dempster was awful.

Nothing is worse than the NBA Playoffs so far. No point in capping. Just take the home favorite and you'll win. Why I refuse to do that, who the fuck knows. I guess I like pissing money away.

game 2 overs are 7-2-1 for me this year. 11-4 last season.
we'll hammer some bases tomorrow and make up whatever damage the NBA has done to my bud Chute.

2-0 = 100% win
0-1 = 0 % win
your bb capping skills is infinity% better than your mlb capping skills kido.

No. Played the Spurs/Hornet game. Had the Over 182 and got extremely lucky. Just saw your thread and it couldn't have been more accurate for describing my night.

I had the over as well. sa kept missing wide open 3s, but they got some in junk time.

Earned runs count as much as other runs, and the concept of "earned runs" is often pretty bogus anyway. With 2 outs, say an error puts the runner on first base and then 6 runs are scored. Had that error not occurred, who's to say that a lot of those runs wouldn't have scored anyway? Pitching from the stretch is more difficult than pitching from a regular windup, but it's not 6 runs tougher. Committing that error costs the team about 0.25 prevented runs in expectation, yet the pitcher is let off the hook for 6 runs.
In this instance, the first error cost them about a run in expectation and the second error cost them 0.25 runs. Would you rather have lost your bet 3.75 to 3?

Those expectation figures include league average hitters, so with Dunn coming up that second error cost a bit more than .25 runs, but it was still not worth enough that you should have expected the Cubs to win without the errors occurring.

Well, dear, the thing is the errors actually cost them 5 runs. The 2nd error was followed by a HR, but they should have been out of the inning. its different to pitch out of a wind up, its different to know there are runners on, and its different mentally to have to get 4 outs in an inning. simply put, cinci scored 0 earned runs and anyone who won on them was the prodcut of good luck and i congratulate them.
