question for tennis experts

is there a tennis "season" so to speak like football etc
or tourneys year round?

do most of the tourneys start early in the week and culminate by the weekend?

the season in tennis usually starts with some exhbition tournaments in last days of December, first days of January, in January we have Australian Open too.

Then there are always tournaments every week, in men or women, sometimes there are weeks when we have 5 tournaments at the same time, sometimes less because of some Davis Cup or Fed Cup matches and when there are transiction of surfaces or continents where tournaments are played.

So, there isn't too much days to rest during the season.

In May we have Roland Garros, in June/July Wimbledon and in August US Open.

The season goes until late October/november with the endind championship with best 8th players of the year, usually in SHangai and Madrid.
Then we still have the Davis Cup final in December and that's it.

For me it's the best to bet since i have always a bet every week.

Tournaments usually start on saturday's with some qualifiers matches (usually there aren't bookies where you can bet on these, unless in a Grand Slam) and the main matches start on monday. The final usually are on sunday.

tennis is tricky. you can make nice money by betting +150 underdogs of you know your players. -400 losing outright is common in some small tournments. and yes, nadal and federer can lose to some no name in some ATP tournament.

then there is the game spread...those are tricky to cap...i tend to stick with outright winner.

big events you can even do over under...those are fun side bets though.

Not really, there is only an off season, which goes from late Nov. to Early Jan.

Then there small and some major (masters series) tournaments leading up to the big ones (grand slams - Aussie Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open), and then there are the end of year championships which feature the top 8 players.

Concurrently, there are "challenger series" tournaments, which are basically the minor leagues of tennis.

Pretty much all year. December not much happens though.

There are tournaments every week, some more important than others. Obviously the 4 major tournaments gather most of the attention from casual fans and to some degree the 9 master series events (Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo, etc...)

Then there are some very low profile tournaments that are always going on that only really interested fans or bettors would know about...typically multiple ones a week (i.e. Munich & Barcelona this week), these rarely make headlines and are seldom even covered on television. It's not uncommon for some of the top players to skip out on some of these tournaments.

And of course there are challenger events that are always going on for low level players. There are some betting lines on these but you really really really have to know your tennis to bet these. Most books don't offer lines on these and the players would hardly be recognizable to anyone outside the most enthusiastic fan.

So to answer your question, pretty much all year with the exception of December is the tennis season.
