Put yourself in the position of a number one draft choice in any sport. You probably grew up poor so you are like a kid in a candy store or like a kid on Christmas Eve with visions of sugar plums and fairies dancing in your mind.Well, hopefully it's not fairies.hehe! More than likely for some,it's bitches and ho's.When you get a signing bonus of a few hundred grand you probably equate it in 40 thousand cases of 40 ounce Colt 45.Back in the late 70's when an 8 gallon keg of beer cost $14,I knew a kid I worked with at an entry level 1st job where at lunch break everyday he said he earned an 8 gallon keg already that day.He said it everyday and meant it because he bought alot of 8 gallon kegs to stick in an old fridge he had.

I would be afraid to do anything in fear of breaking a leg.I would be pissed at an agent who tells me that it may be months before I sign a contact if you have to hold out.I would say the hell with the agent and paying him 10% and just look what comparable players to me got paid and compensated and go to the team owner and GM and tell them you want a similar contract.I would tell them that I'm bargaining in good faith without a parasite agent so I would even take a 10% hit, what the agent would have gotten.More money for the team's salary cap so they can get another decent player instead of an average one.The balls star players have when they eat up a huge part of the salary cap and complain when the team loses because they have a poor talent pool.

So what's the deal with these high draft choices who were poor all their life having fancy cars and all when they are in college? What's the deal with people like Reggie Bush's parents getting a new house and no one knowing where they got the money to buy it?Colleges and the government have to be absolute idiots when they think that money doesn't change hands as to where star athletes go to play college ball.Only the idiot players are too blame when they get caught. They can't keep their big mouths shut and have to brag how much they are getting from the allumni,a booster club sugar daddy or some agent.

So if a highly rated draft choice that's poor has an insurance policy to cover getting hurt and never being able to play ball again, where does he get the money to buy the expensive insurance policy?I'll bet there are some shady lone sharks that get some big vig for fronting these players the insurance policy money.

I picture guys like Grandma and KJB from Rounders running these lone shark businesses to dumb athletes.
