I have a female friend who was rear-ended by a drunk on-duty RCMP officer. The guy then got out of his cruiser and threatened to kill her and her girlfriend up if they reported the incident. Needless to say they called the cops who had to restrain and arrest the unruly officer. They dragged him away still uttering threats

I have never been to the Drunk Tank but I was at the Roxy once and some guys were thrown to the ground and one of the guys who got thrown down had a huge gash on his face. The cops knee was on his head pressing it against the cement and some guy starts filming it on his iPhone. They end up taking the guy who filmed the video to the drunk tank too because he wouldn't stop filming when the VPD asked him too. I am not against cops but I am against 40% of those guys who become cops and turn into dicks. I have two friends who became cops and those guys walk around on there high horses thinking they are the coolest things in the world.

The mind state of a guy with an IQ in the 50's. The guy I explained above has been taught to believe that this guy can be educated and "saved", but he can't. He is more concerned with image and self gratification. If he gets lucky enough to be successful in life, he will move into a neighborhood with the first guy I explained, but If he fails at life, he will blame him. One thing that seems to be overlooked by a few posters here is that the reason North America, South America, Western Europe, etc. are more "civilized" then other parts of the world (i.e. Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, etc.) is because we have rules and regulations in place that "guide" us in the right direction. A police officers duty is to uphold these laws, and monitor the people to make sure that order is maintained. Do these officers abuse their rights? Hell yes, this does happen in our society. It is an unfortunate situation when someone is arrested/abused under false pretenses? Yes. But, assuming you really did not deserve your punishment, a good lawyer will straighten things out for you. I am sure that the majority of people out there would agree with me when I say that a world without police officers would be a world no more.

The saddest part of this whole video isn't that a cop got run over or the retaliation thereafter, but that the cops just gave this guy, the same guy that just ran over their cop buddy, a perfect scenario for a lawsuit. He will certainly serve time, but he will also certainly sue and likely win. Regardless of circumstances, it was police brutality. If the post is true that this guy had just plowed down a police officer then fled, I think the officers should get a pass here for a few kicks and punches. Suspended two weeks without pay at most.

It's so easy to sit behind a keyboard and say the officers should have shown no emotion, should have seen that the perpetrator was down and couldn't harm anyone else, but thrown in the moment, they reacted emotionally and with aggression. Not hard to swallow if one of their fellow brothers was just killed or seriously injured by the thug.

Did we want them to be robots? Yet in situations where police follow the rules to a T, we blast them for not showing discretion. Whether these officers had exemplary service records leading up to this incident or not, it is clear that critics have quicker trigger-fingers beind their keyboard than bad apple officers do behind their Glocks.
