    My Approach to Sports Betting
When I first started wagering on sports I was foolish like most. Betting parlays, teasers and going large on the wrong kind of games. I had a lack of money management and discipline that was required to win long term. It was not until my good friend, vanzack, game me some wisdom and insight. Setting goals, money management, reduced juice all aid the long term bettor.

Now what I wanted to share with you today is not verbatim what he showed me, but more of a plan that I set out for myself, but the discipline still lies within the plan.

    Here is my Plan

    April 1 $500 @ 3% = $15

    MLB +15u = $225

    Sept 1 $725 @ 3% = $21.75

    NFL +15u = $326.25
    NCAA +15u = 326.25
    NBA +15 u = $326.25
    CBB +15u = $326.25 = $1305

    Net Profit = $1530 +75u

    Bankroll = $2030

Now some may say 3%/unit is too aggressive and if someone feels more comfortable with 1% then that is fine. As for my betting style 3% is aggressive enough for me to reach my goals, yet not going over the top.

As you see in the guideline my goals are realistic. I set a +15u goal for each season. No boasting or touting, claiming to hit +100u, cause I don't need to. Now since football and basketball season overlap you will see that I keep the unit amount the same and re-evaluate once both seasons are finished.

You can plug in your own bankroll/unit amount, but I kept it simple to illustrate the point that by hitting +15u in each sport (which I believe is very achievable) you can TRIPLE YOUR BANKROLL.

We have a lot of fun around here at SBR, but not a lot is talked about strategy. I have been here for almost 2 years and thought I should pass along some of the wisdom that was shared with me.

You won't become popular or the next biggest thing on the net, but you will make money.

Nice plan As you mentioned, a little too aggressive for some, like me, but I got to tell you, at least 80% of being successful is Money Management. Another 15% is the discipline to follow a winning strategy correctly and finally 5% in having an actual winning strategy. IMHO.

Now here is one thing I might just add real quick. For many, it is hard to find that winning strategy. If you feel you still have not nailed down a winning system then like you said:
by hitting +15u in each sport (which I believe is very achievable)
One should probably add: stop placing bets to the plan once they achieve +15u in a given sport. Now that would take discipline.

Regardless, you have a great system here for Money Management and I hope many begin to follow it.

                  5 star & imgv - much appreciated!

Duke John - thanks for reply. I forgot to mention that but you are dead on. When I hit my goal of +15u I have 2 options.

                  1. Stop. I hit my goal and I wait for the next upcoming season.
                  2. Determine if I feel there is enough season left to profit from. If I feel there is time left, I will set another goal, but still keeping my profits from my original goal.

Understand that this is how I do it. Our good buddy pags has a great strategy too and it works for him. For anyone who knows about pags knows he a college bettor and takes home many many more units in a ncaa season than I will.

My point is this is what works for me and I am sharing it will the board to hopefully help someone who might need it.

Other posters I am sure have their own successful strategy.

Do what works best for your style.
