Are you kidding? I bet guys are called worse every damn day at ESPN during production meetings, but they don't cry about it. Shit, most of us get called worse at work ... did the person calling you this get fired? No. I hope there was something else to this whole story, because this one incident alone is bullshit to get fired over.

EP, that's my guess. If this was the only reason he was fired, pretty lame. But it's most likely the same as the Juan Williams/NPR incident last fall.

If Jeanine Edwards wants to make it, she should follow in Erin Andrews' footsteps and release a peephole video

That's unbelievable. He shouldn't have called her an a-hole, but c'mon ESPN. You don't fire a good announcer that everyone likes because of something minor that was said off camera. There's a creep at my company that told a girl he goes home and beats off to her. He got disciplined and lost his bonus, but they didn't even fire him for that.

Love how ESPN gets rid of Franklin for this, but Craig James tries to use his status at ESPN to cry to TEXAS TECH to get his son more playing time, and they still plaster his useless face all over the air..

The only way more people will watch sports is if ESPN women anchors and reporters wear bikinis. This is all men want to see. No one pays attention to the womens reporting in men sports.

People and especially older guys have been getting in trouble for saying things that once were tolerated but no longer are for years.

Yes! Frivilous firing + Frivilous lawsuit.

Former ESPN announcer Ron Franklin has sued the network over his firing for reportedly berating a female colleague.

The wrongful termination lawsuit filed Monday in state district court in Franklin's hometown of Austin, Texas, claims ESPN had no grounds for dismissing him. The suit says Franklin exchanged "contentious words" with a colleague who repeatedly interrupted a private conversation before the pair worked at the Chick-fil-A Bowl without incident.

Sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards has said Franklin called her "sweet baby" in a condescending tone. Franklin apologized, was pulled off the Fiesta Bowl and later fired.
