why is everyone making such a big deal out of this? It's a snow game... the NFL plays 20 of them every year. I realize the field isn't heated, but they're heating it externally up til the start of the game. I don't see the issue

Yea I agree, it should be interesting to watch (could be a terribly played game though), it just seems that all anyone is talking about is the conditions. Even players are complaining about how "dangerous" it is going to be. I don't get how it's worse than any other cold weather game. I could see Tampa Bay or Dallas complaining, but these guys are from Chicago and Minnesota! Suck it up and play.

Heating fields is a new phenomenon. Back in the day people played without heating all the time.... Look at alaska highschool football teams. The players are babies.

True for a team with nothing to play for. Not true for a team with a division clinching playoff game. Bears -3.5-120 big.
