I Mean If U Can Sign A Guy For 1 Day... Why Dont Some Of These Teams Give More Guys For 1 Day Rather Then Taking Years Of Trust And Duriblity To Some Of These Players, Even Players That Probably Didnt Play In High School Or College But Know They Have The Talent, I Think It Would Both Be In The Teams And Player Benifet Of A 1 Day Try Out/ Game... Who Else Agrees Disagrees?

#6bowlingreen, the simple answer to your query is because Marvin Miller and the players union were smarter than the owners back in the early 70s when the whole free agency/reserve clause battle was being fought. The owner that all called Crazy Charlie, Oakland's Charles Finley, suggested that they just max all contracts at one year. The owners thought this ridiculous and pooh-poohed on Finley's idea.
Marvin Miller wrote about it years later, how it would've essentially killed player salaries since it would've meant the free agent market was flooded every winter (supply high, prices low; supply low or controled, prices higher).Comment -
