I just saw an interview with Bears LB, Briggs and he was whining about playing in the snow in Minnesota. Is this what the legacy of Bears Defensive teams has become? He is concerned for their safety, afraid he may get hurt. That is a legitimate concern, but could you imagine past Bear greats like Butkus, Singletary, Hampton or Dent saying this or allowing a teammate to say this to reporters. Not exactly intimidating stuff from this supposed tough defense. You might expect this kinda talk from a WR but from your starting LB? Maybe he should have taken up tennis or golf.

#5It's not about snow or cold weather. It's about the field being frozen and covered with a layer of ice. Chris Harris compared it to putting on a pair of cleats and playing in the street. If you heard the same Briggs interview I heard it didn't sound as much like whining as it did like him taking a stab at the NFL for their hypocrisy. All year long they talk about player safety. Flag after flag for grazing the QB after he releases the ball. Fine after fine for perfectly clean tackles. And yet they have no problem sending two teams out there to battle on concrete for three hours. Doesn't add up.Comment -

Is that because soldier field has heating system or whatever underneath they grass? And university of Minnesota most likely doesn't, since they don't play when it's "too cold" to worry about this?Comment -

#13The problem is not the snow or the cold. That stadium wasn't designed to be played on 0 degree weather and the field is not heated underground with hot water pipes. So basically is as solid as concrete. So it's like playing football on asphalt like they do on basketball pick up games.Comment -

#18Bears coaching also has them practicing indoors all week(just like when they were in the Superbowl and never practiced in the rain, while Payton Manning was practicing throwing balls soaked in buckets of water) . The Bears have 33 players that all played college ball south of the Mason-Dixon line. These Bears hate the cold.
Granted the Bears didn't play well last weekend but they are probably more prepared for those conditions than Vikings. The Vikings last December/January outdoor victory in a cold-weather site was a January 2005 playoff victory at Lambeau Field. But not since December 1999 have the Vikings won a regular-season game outdoors in December or January.Comment -

#24Two days this week they practiced indoor. Today they'll practice outdoor. Coach said they have been outside most of the time before this. With weather predictions for Monday it doesn't look like you can acclimate to that no matter what you do.

Also practiced indoors Friday

Old Met Stadium never had underground heaters....
They tried to thaw out the field before the game
with these flame throwers aimed at the ground....
This game Monday is gonna be cool to watch.......I should
say...cool to watch when you are sitting in a warm lazyboy
while sipping some Winter Lager as you gaze at the TV screen..Comment -
