    Beer Review 4 (Video)

    Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock 7.5

Dark browk in color, almost black, sweet smell with alcohol in the nose, roasted malt taste, some chocolate, long lingering taste defines this brew. Fairly carbonated and an easy drinker with light body.

The Lost Abbey: Serpent's Stout 8

11% booze...black in color, minimal head, smell of faint bourbon and cocoa. Taste is chocolate and deep espresso, a woody feel where the alcohol dissipates. Low carbonation, tons of flavor, don't drink this one if you are not at home base.

    Southern Tier Krampus SOLID 8.5

Smells like citrus with slight malt, medium body, and slight bitterness. Great balance. Not usually a fan of IPA's but this is one amazingly balanced hoppy beer. Actually it's a lager, but an unusually complex one. Very easy drinking. Was upgraded from 8 to 8.5.

    Founders Backwoods Bastard 7

Smell is BIG on bourbon, with lighter caramel notes. Lots of falvor with oak notes, but bourbon overpowers everything, personally unless you LOVE the taste of bourbon, avoid this beer.

Nice job couger... the ipa looks like something i'd like to try. I'm the same way with ipa's, but if it's a good one, they can be a good change of pace.

Zam that Krampus was really really good, I didn't know it was so hoppy...it actually is a lager, not an IPA but the citrus balanced the hops so well I couldn't resist it. Southern Tier might be the best small brewery in the US right now. I love me some Dogfish Head but these guys hit it out of the park almost every time, very consistent.

      Thanks for the points Bronxer

Great reviews. I checked out some of your other videos too. It's nice to see a craft addict/expert around these parts. I just so happen to have bought an Ayinger Celebrator a few days ago to try, so I'll be comparing it against your review.

Can you make a video review of assorted Four Loko in conjunction to cooking fried chicken? I think that would be a most enjoyable.

The rating scale seems too inflated. You sounded like you really didn't like the last one and it shouldn't have topped a 5.

Nice video. Never had a beer that tasted like Bourbon before, so I will be trying the Founders Backwoods Bastard.

Yisman is right, and I am doing so. In fact, I didn't realize how much I didn't like it until last night when I tried another and poured half of it out.

Don't do it unless you like bourbon. And then maybe not.

Can't edit the OP so for those interested I am downgrading the Founders to a 5. Some will like it for it's bourbon punch but it wasn't for me.

My advice would be to not drink anything with "bastard" in its name, especially if it costs 3+ bucks a bottle.

Old school Nine Inch Nails in the background. Nice.

I agree with yisman, I'd drop all your ratings by 1.5-2.0 points to make the scale seem remotely accurate. This isn't the NBA Dunk Contest.

And for the record, this still counts as drinking alone.

I like drinking alone. Only two or three other people argue with me that way.

The scale is fine, I think I was just too drunk by the end to keep it accurate. Yisman was right though, and the Bastard was downgraded. It's not a Bud Light or anything, it just pales in comparison to the others.

Stealthy drink that Lost Abbey with caution and at home, that is some fierce stout

Dinaro I had Chimay once, good stuff, gonna do a full Belgian review once it gets more into Spring/Summer

Dank Fire-Celebration Ale is pretty good...Sierra always goes a bit too hoppy for me, but it's not a bad choice
