Why McCain doesn't want to end the war
The reason McCain wants to continue the war has nothing to do with "finishing the job". He knows that once the troops come home there will be no jobs for them (unless they go in after they get their 4 year degree) and he also knows that all of the military and government jobs will be cut back - thus sending the country into a recession that is much worse than it is now.

If this country is to turn around the government has to put its foot down and stop the corporations from doing anything they want (for the most part there should be no making products overseas unless the corporation wants to pay so much money that it is actually more expensive to produce overseas). Unfortunately, since the corporations buy the politicians this creates a conflict of interest.

I think he's obsessed with Vietnam and doesn't want us to bail like we did there.

Actually, McCain was one of the leading voices for rapprochement with Vietnam in the '80s and '90s.

Now he's a total slave of the Military/Industrial Complex that Eisenhower warned of in his farewell address.
