#5Why do we do it? Simple reason really, because we have no lives. We can say whatever we want to deny it cause we're all so "coooool", but we post here because we have no lives and are degenerate gambling losers.Comment -

#11In reality, to be able to post like this in a targeted area of specialty (sports gambling) is amazing.

#13I don't think it's useless,I mean sure we talk about some silly stuff sometimes, but I've got to tell you I've been gambling for years, and have always done pretty well in football, but since I joined here in December(which is the first forum I have ever belonged to)this is the best year I've ever had in pro basketball, and college and it's all because of you guys. You know what I mean, the discussions we have, and the things I hear you guys talking about.I've relly enjoyed it,I look forward to getting off work at night so I can come home and log on.Comment -

#15Sorry, it is a bad habit of mine. I just assume that most other posters who spend considerable portions of their day posting on gambling sites aren't exactly leading adventurous lives.

It's simple, though - you're depressed and you have no life. Certainly doesn't mean others aren't happy with their lives.Comment -

#24I don't know Cannon.....I wouldn't say it's totally a waste of time. I've recieved advice, assistance and suggestions from a number of people on this board over the last few years. Tacomax, Onlooker, Mudcat, Dozer, Williebee, Bigboydan...These are just a few of the many that come to mind. Also financially, if you grab onto the coat-tails of certain posters and hang on, you can increase your finances substantially (Cobra King in the NHL forum immediately comes to mind).
True, some post 60-70 times a day, jotting down whatever thought seems to come into their mind at that particular point in time. But if that's what they're into, more power to them. Not my cup of tea, but at least they seem to be enjoying themselves.
Anyway, just based purely on being able to get a fix on the state of the gambling industy, poster's experiences with other sportbooks and such, I'd say that this Forum has been anything but a waste of time in the 2 1/2 years I've been off and on visiting.....Just my experience, of course.Comment -

#26It's not a waste of time either if you are interested in sports gambling. I have joined some very nice books because of SBR like matchbook and avoided several books which would have very likely skeedaddled with my cash. But the number one reason being that it's just plain fun to converse with ppl with similar interests and get their viewpoints and knowledge.Comment -

#27What does that mean to "have no life"? I've always wondered that. I have won over 4k in the past month on sports gambling and have enjoyed the win streak. If I had blown a couple thousand getting drunk and doing drugs is that a "life", would I then be "living it up". I simply enjoy relaxing watching sports that I've bet on and talking to ppl with similar interests and trying to make some money along the way, you don't have to be a degenerate loser on the edge of suicide to enjoy sports and gambling.Comment -

#32I'm with WestSidePete here. I think this is a stupid argument and if you think posting is stupid just don't post. I do it because I have some extra time on my hands and I like to get insight and other people's views on sports. On top of this, there are alot of contests and other little things that you don't see when you aren't on a forum.Comment -

#34I lost over $10,000 in every year 2000-2004 betting $500 a game until I joined the forums. I lost couple hundie in ' 05 and won couple hundie in '06. Last year I won $25,000 and that is the truth.
You pick up the basics of MM, the Pinny lean, line shopping, timing and the art of not chasing and you can turn you gambling world upside down.
No doubt in my mind.Comment
