#39Lebron would easily be able to back Kobe down for an easy dunk every time. Or just drive around him for a dunk/layup. Sure Kobe could get lucky and hit 11 straight long, contested, fadeaway 20 footers...but let's be realistic, he shoots like 45%.
Lebron gets 1 possession and it's over. Let's remember he's got about 60lbs and 3 inches on him, is just as fast, can handle the ball better and can jump higher.

#43i swear i'd pay 100$ to see this on tv cause i've always wondered who would win. Kobe is much quicker and would just make those fadeaways on lebron and would knock em in 1 by 1. but lebron is big and tough to get around. kobe has quicker feet and better shot, yet lebron can just dunk on him with his strength and long reach and kobe is not good on D..
this one could go either way.. i would love to see them go up to 11, best of 5.. and no smiling or joking like at all star game. i want to see them take this seriously.. say winner gets 250,000$ for it.. then they'll take it seriously. If they do this there'll be 40 million viewers. I don't know why they don't do this. maybe because both are scared to lose to each other.
if they played, my line would be.

Honestly, I really agree they should do this.
Why doesn't Nike try to pull this off? Would be a ratings killer all over the globe, LeBron and Kobe are both global icons. Could pay each player millions to participate with even more going to the winner. Both would be enticed by the extra fame and recognition a win would bring them, though undoubtedly scared about risking the shame of losing. Still, I think if it was pushed on them both players would go for it.Comment -

Yeah, the team that won over 60 games consecutive years which oddsmakers have to win 34.5 games this season? Oh I'm sorry... I forget the monster void Zydrunas Ilgauskas will leave.
Not trying to be particularly hostile, but you two are helping my argument. I plan on making a detailed write-up of why LeBron's the best player this week.Comment -

#47As much as I hate LeBron, I actually think he will win in a 1v1 versus Kobe. They are both super athletic basketball players, however I think LeBron has the edge because he is taller. He should be able to out rebound Kobe, and beat him in the post game as well.Comment -

#49Any of you guys every played 1v1 at the playground. Size plays the biggest difference. Suggesting they are both have the same quickness(which Lebron may actually have) the bigger guy would win 80 percent of the time.
Just back kids down every play. You don't have to win in style, you're just trying to win.Comment -

like i told the last guy, This isn't shaq vs. you. He isn't going to just back his way down to the rim and turn around and dunk every time.Comment -

#52Size plays a huge difference so long as there is a significant difference is size. Lebron has 2 inches and 40 pounds. You know anybody who is 2 inches shorter then you and weights 40 pounds less but would just whip your ass in 1-on-1, or vice versa? of course you do.

Not many. We used to play every single day all day after school. Straight to the Gym.
If we were the same speed/quickness and I was bigger 6' playing 5'9-5'10 guys and had the weight advantage. They would hardly stand a chance, unless they were shooting lights out. I could back them down every single play and throw it off the glass.
Playing guys that are smaller don't have the strength to get their body into you and force you outta the lane. And if they lean to hard, simple drop step and score.
Playing guys same size/same speed/same weight. That was a different story.Comment -

When you play actual competitive basketball though, ie colllege or high school varsity, You will run into guys who are really talented. and they will have certain advantages against you. and you will have certain advantages again them. Maybe you're the guy who is 2 inches taller and weighs a few more pounds. But the other guy, he's muscular and tenacious, and he has the basic skills defensively to where to aren't just going to just back him down like you're his daddy.
If you've played any quality basketball players in your lifetime. You will realize that just because a guy has a couple inches and weight on him, he isn't going to get backed down all the way to the basket for a layup every time. It just doesn't happen. Period. Now, if you're talking about some inbred off the street vs. a guy who's a starter on his high school team. well maybe he could back him down and just shoot layups over and over, since the guy has no athletic ability or any clue whatsoever how to play basketball.
Kobe is an all world player. Even Shaq would have trouble backing kobe down and scoring on him repeatedly, because it just doesn't work like that. It's not that easy.Comment -

#62Anyone who keeps throwing out the "Kobe is quicker but Lebron is stronger" line clearly doesn't watch much basketball. Lebron is easily equal to Kobe in quickness and is faster than him in pure speed. I've yet to see any player in the NBA who can guard Lebron's strength and speed without help defense.Comment -

#64Kobe would school the fuk out of Lebron but none of us would be able to see it because Lebron's handlers would burn the tape.
Those of you saying Lebron would back Kobe down??? When the hell has he backed anyone down? He has absolutely zero post move and he can't hit a shot past 5 feet. Kobe would back him down and do multiple moves to and away from the basket. Lebron maybe stronger but he doesn't like contact, he whines like a little bitch if he get's touched and wouldn't be able to get past Kobe.
In crunch time, Lebron would implode under the pressure and would look for a Wade bailout.Comment -
