Purdue co- favorite to win ncaa title?
Was checking ncaa futures at The Greek and saw that
Duke was the favorite at +500 followed by Purdue at +500? Then Kentucky at +800. No other team was under +1000.

This is crazy? Is Purdue that good?

I think there is a great chance of a DUKE repeat. Would not lay the wood with PURDUE.

      I guess I was asking

. Is Purdue really suppose to be good this year? I don't even consider them an elite eight team.

I think Michigan State could go pretty deep if Payne can come in and play well with his back to the basket because State struggled with that last year.

Besides Turner, the Big 10 returns all it's top players. With Hummel coming back, the main 3 players on Purdue are among the strongest in the nation. How ready Hummel will be at the start is the question. I think futures to win the tournament are a tough bet because it's a long season and like what happened last year to Purdue, 1 injury can really ruin a season.

if they stay healthy they are a true contender. the problem with betting futures right now is that a season ending injury in the middle of the season will screw you up. so you are taking a huge chance no matter how good the odds look like now.

I think this season will be a let down for Duke. Purdue seems solid, def see them in the final 4(if they don't suffer any major injuries to key players)

I can't see Purdue winning it! Maybe come close, but, have they ever signed a tall or strong rebounder to go with those hot seniors?

Also, they have "no tradition" of winning in ncaa playoffs...I think that's very important!

A friendly reminder to college basketball fans:

Other than the 2002 Maryland Terrapins (who played a Mike Davis coached team in the final, nuff said), nobody has won the NCAA Tournament in the last 30 years without a McDonalds' All American on the roster. Notice how last year, Duke was the only team in the Final Four with McDonalds All Americans on the roster? That's where my money went.

As far as Big Ten teams are concerned, Michigan State, Illinois, and Ohio State are the only schools with any McDonalds All Americans. I have a hard time seeing Purdue keeping up this year. The other top schools in the Big Ten only got better while Purdue lost Kramer and Grant.

Johnson is 6'10" and fairly slender.

He can't do all of the rebounding and shot blocking.
This is going to be Purdue's downfall, if, they have not found some "new" solid help inside for Johnson.

Lol at these Big Ten haters. For such a "sucky" conference, they sure put a lot of teams in the final four.

Purdue absolutely is an elite eight team or better... Duke... has no chance to repeat. Mainly I'm basing that on my hatred for Kyle Singler. But I would bet they don't make the final 4 this year.

They're not even one of the top two in their own conference in my opinion. MSU and Ohio St. had great recruiting classes to add to their already solid teams.
