ya you could read pokerstars website and follow directions. "We also strongly advise that you rather deposit your check at a reputable bank or financial institution, and avoid using a check cashing store."

its in BOLD RED lettering in the middle of the checks withdrawal screen on their website. I don't got much ideas. E-mail pokerstars and go give them the money back.

store owner took the check to his bank. hes just a local grocery store , not a cash checking store...............the check was signed over to the owner, he cashed the check at his bank

If you ask me, I think the check cashing place is bluffing.

You signed the check over to them, you didnt write the check.

They charged you a huge fee, because there is a certain amount of risk involved.

They are suppose to do their due dilligence before taking the check, which includes calling the bank the check is from and verifying funds.

Tell them they have to deal with pokerstars, not you.

Buy the check back from them and cash it at your bank.

pokerstars just having processing problems im sure. if you track how much money this has cost you they will likely reimburse you. First find some money to send to whoever you owe, or convince them to wait until stars gets you some more money.

As often as you hear about books sometimes sending out bad checks because of processor issues you should know better than to cash a check from offshore anywhere besides your bank. Didn't you notice the pictures of the guys on the wall who were wanted for cashing rubber checks?

It is unfortunate but thanks to the U.S. processor issues and sometimes bounced checks are going to be a fact of life even when coming from a top rated book.

DO NOT CASH CHECKS FORM OFFSHORE ANYWHERE OTHER THAN YOUR BANK IF THE CHECK BOUNCES YOU LOOK LIKE A THIEF AND WILL BE PROSECUTED AS SUCH IF YOU CAN NOT PAY BACK THE MONEY ASAP.

AND WHATEVER YOU DO DO NOT TELL THE POLICE IT IS FROM ILLEGAL GAMBLING!!!

Tell your grocery store buddy to cool his jets. Call Poker Stars. I'm sure they have a procedure for replacing checks. Follow the procedure. Good luck.

just so you know not everyone is capable of getting bank account. mostly this is due to f'ing up past bank accounts (usually due to gambling) by overdrafting multiple times, bouncing checks, not paying negative bank balances, etc. you will get reported to telecheck and chexsystems (I KNOW BELIEVE ME). Other reasons could vary including not having proper idenitifcation, being wanted by the police or some other agency (e.g. having a warrant out), or even someone could be an illegal immigrant and not have the proper 'fake' documents needed to get an account.

Not sure if this is true for the original poster but I'm just saying that it goes beyond "being cheap" or "not wanting" to get a bank account.

(btw in my case I was able to get an additional bank account after being in chexsystems with Ch@$e, alls I did is open the account online. Also another bank told me they could give me an account but had to limit my check writing and would not give me a debit card.)
