#4wow, it's hard to even fathom that. I guess realistically you should bet 1%, so thats $10,000/betComment -

#5Say I hit the Lotto and BROUGHT HOME 1 million.
I'd buy a house for 400K - easily will be able to turn that into a nice profit when the markets go back up.
Then I'd try to find a decent bank or account I could throw 300K in and earn a somewhat decent interest on that.
Then still be betting between 1-1000 a game.
I wouldn't blow it all gambling, as I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't, they just put on a show here, to try and make people think they are really going "all in" every bet, and if it loses they are really going to be scrounging around for money.Comment -

#7My bet size will always be the same regardless of how much money I have. Having a million is no big deal, having 5 or more is.המוסד

#8The amount of money on a game from my experience is relative to your life style and your age.Excluding gamblers that will blow it all eventually on something because they are in self destruct mode,if your life style is lavish and you spend more than the next guy with equal wealth ,you will bet more. Probably a 1,000 per game up to 5,000. If you are less inclined to spend lavishly it would be more along the lines of 100-500 .
If you came from nothing ,worked hard all your life and saved your money,as you get older ,you get stuck on actual value of money at some point.Seen guys in they're 80s with millions that bet 50-100 a game and are completely satisfied.50 bucks in 1960, when they were 30, was a lot , and it is hard to get away from that as you go on.If money came to you easier, and you have always had it,that is a different story. That is why sticker shock is so common in older people when buying expensive items.Comment -

#21I have to agree. Most people dont even realize that if you are 30 now to retire at age 65 you will need close to 2 million just to live off of what 30k/ year is now. 1 million dollars sounds like a lot to some people but if you were to break it down it really isnt that much money.Comment -

#22It depends. You could easily have a net worth of a million and have it all tied up in home equity, cars, stocks, etc. and have little available to gamble with.
If you had a million in liquid cash above that and wanted to still bet sports then I think you'd need to bet 5k+ to make it matter.
It would also depend if you were a career winner or not....do you have an edge ?Comment
