It seems to be getting to the stage where EVERYONE expects a tip, you can see it in their face if you don't tip. I'm from Australia where we don't tip anyone for anything because the minimal wage is much higher.
A friend told me that they were asked for a tip by movers after paying 2 of them $270 for a 3 hour job and they only moved a block away. He told them no. I'm not tipping, the movers got pissed off and started walking out but his mother in law stopped them and gave them $50 each.
The other day I was moving, another short move in the same suburb. They had to go up 2 flights of stairs so it was hard work for them but they weren't very careful and scratched up a couple of pieces of my furniture. I considered not tipping at all but they looked exhausted by the end so I decided to tip. There were 3 of them and I gave them $30 each. The boss seemed happy but one of the Mexican workers scrunched his face up in disgust like I just took a dump on his foot.
Tomorrow I'm hiring a house cleaner and a carpet cleaner to clean my previous apartment to help insure I get my $2000 security deposit back (I had to pay so much because I had no credit in this country when I rented it). How much will these fukks expect to be tipped? Personally I don't want to tip them at all. They are earning good rates per hour unless their bosses skimp on them, and if that's the case they should take it up with them.
How will they react if I don't tip? Have you every been confronted for not tipping or not tipping enough?
