on the UCLA rivals.com board. what an addition he would be. imo, hes the #1 pick in the draft when he comes out. never seen an arm better than his.

#2big pickup for UCLA if it happens, doesn't suprise me that much that he want out of Michigan. He doesn't really fit into Rich Rodriguez's offensive system.Comment -

yeah, my uncle has coached qbs his entire life and we've talked about this kid a bit. mallett seems to be cool under pressure and he has the arm, we'll learn if he can read defenses in the future. as of now, hes as good a freshman QB prospect as ive seen. i know NFL scouts have noticed.Comment -

#5michigan is full of talent. they can recruit top plays all over the country, i don't think they'll miss one QB. UCLA need someone great to put up a fight againt the Trojans. Go Bruins!Comment -

#6I'll be surprised if Mallett ISN'T in NY as a Heisman finalist one day... he's that talented. All the talk of Mallett not being a good fit for Rod's spread offense is ridiculous. As OC at Tulane, Rod and Shaun King had great success, and King wasn't exactly Pat White in terms of mobility. The threat of a QB to run in a spread offense is nice, but it's not a necessity, and UM always has the caliber of receivers to make it work well. It's not to say Mallett wouldn't be more comfortable and effective in a more traditional pro-style offense, but he could have made it work in Rod's system as well. Henne looked damn good running a version of the spread against UF, and he's not any more mobile than Mallett.
This is a HUGE loss for UM if they can't land Pryor. Mallett was certain to leave if/when Pryor committed to UM, and now that it looks like Mallett's decided to transfer, the pressure's on Michigan to get Pryor to Ann Arbor (if Pryor wants to play as a frosh, he'll be at UM next year).Comment -

Mizzou runs the spread without a running qb, mich could run it with mallett, but it seems that coach rod is really after pryor and thats telling. at the same time, jimbo claussen at ND has the nations #2 passer committed to ND. got to feel weird for him. he comes to ND in a limo on signing day and all this. he's touted at the lebron james of football...and now ND has a commit from someone whos only 1 year behind him and may be better.Comment -

UM and OSU appear to be the favorites in regards to Pryor. UM would seemingly be a better fit in terms of the offense, and Pryor has said numerous times how much he loves Rod's system. Assuming Boeckman's not stupid enough to go pro (guy would be lucky to be a fourth-round pick), UM also provides a better opportunity to play immediately.
Pryor was apparently wearing a UM sweatshirt a few days back at practice for the HS All-Star game.Comment -

#9Agreed. And Mallett will be successful no matter where he goes. Kid is that good.

the shirts at those games dont mean anything, imo. we go through this every year with these recruits. i didnt think OSU was still high with pryor, but maybe they are back. i know he recently said he would visit UM, Duke and someone else. From there he mentioned Oregon, but i dont know how much OSU is in with him. he said they've never run his kinda offense and he backed off them a bit a month or so ago. i havent followed his recruiting too closely since Cut left Tn and pryor dropped the vols.Comment -

#10Too bad he sucked in the Wisconsin game this year......could have really used a good performence from him then. He's still a ways away from being an elite QB.Comment -
