#2No sir, I see a professional athlete/celebrity at least once a month working at the airport and I have never asked anyone for their autograph. On the one side, I'm not really into worshiping people, on the other those poor bastards are so tired of that they probably welcome people that ignore them like I do.Comment -

#5Yeah, it was fun being a kid trying to get autographs at Fenway , if you are an adult they probably assume you want to sell it, it's kind of sad that's what it's come to.Comment -

This. I use to cut grass for a MLB player for the Giants. He played 3B and was somewhat a weird fuvk and whenever he was outside an saw me coming he would vanish as if he was suspecting this of me. Over time he got more comfortable with me being around and opened up a little to me and would shoot the shit just like anybody else when he came to the realization I was not harassing him for anything. I treated him just like an average joe and I think he respected me for doing so. Once I got to know him he was actually a pretty good dude, just tired of being a public figure and since I didn't treat him as one we got alone pretty well. It was amazing how much he was just like anybody else down to earth and pissed and shit no differently than me.Comment -

#13After seeing your second post Doug, I should definitely clarify that I would NEVER ask for an autograph of a player in a setting other than a practice or game type thing. You're a piece of shit if you ask someone for an autograph when they're out to dinner with their families and things like that IMO.Comment -

100% my thoughts. Am glad to see that you guys aren't as bad as I thought. With the exception of a few drones (including that kid at SBR with the blank look in his face), most of you agree that autographs are for children, just like mickey mouse and the tooth fairy. Was at Padres game last night and the new RB for the Chargers was sitting a few rows ahead of us (can't remember his name). The guy behind me, who was definitely in his 40s, was cursing the fact that he forgot to bring his Sharpie and camera. What a loser.Comment -

#20its always funny when theres a pro athlete hanging out at a bar or club.. when i was in minneapolis in early july for some reason michael irvin happened to be at this bar we went to and he was getting HOUNDED by guys just trying to talk to him or get an autograph or talk about brett favre something, it was pathetic.. eventually the bar put 2 security guards near him just to give him some space.
dont be that guy!Comment -

#22When I was in the military we were walking through the terminal at O'Hare and two kids asked all of us to sign their hats....it was probably the coolest thing to watch two kids get 50 signatures from nobodies and they had the biggest smiles on their faces...not worth a penny in $$, but they sure thought it was worth something.Comment -

#24Yeah im not into getting autographs anymore. Id much rather just shake their hand, and im not talking about in a stadium or in a crowed setting, but if I happen to run into someone. Like I ran into Patrick Ewing at a gas station one time and just said whats up and shook his hand. And ive run into McNabb and D Wright in the city before and did the same.Comment -

#32I had season tickets to the Worcester Icecats (AHL hockey) a few straight years in the early/mid 1990's when I was a teenager. I had fun collecting all their autographs. Still have them, on programs, pucks, hats, all sorts of stuff. None of those dopes ever really turned into anything decent at the NHL level though. Craig Conroy probably went on to have the best NHL career of all of them. I think him, Jamal Mayers, and Jason Strudwick are the only guys from those old Icecat teams still playing in the NHL.Comment -
