Actually one of the better countries with Universal Healthcare. That's about it.

Kaohshiung , the second biggest city, is actually quite nice. better than taipei in my opinion (alot cleaner and better weather). Standard of living is pretty good across the board, obv better in the cities, but not too bad in the country side. Primary problems are the heat and humidity and the thousands of missiles pointed that way.
