SYMC could have a follow through spurt of the heels off the McAfee buy out. If I was short this guy I would consider closing it prior to to the close + its a real takeover candidate. Looking for moves during the day and during the last 15 minutes.

Paul Wick, portfolio manager at the Seligman Communications and Information fund, notes that he sold his stake in MFE earlier in the year, then bought it back ahead of June earnings. “I’m in a good mood today,” he writes in a e-mail. On the other hand, he doesn’t like the deal from an Intel point of view. “[I] don’t think the acquisition is smart for INTC,” he writes. “[McAfee CEO] Dave Dewalt is a master salesman. My hat’s off to him. [But I] don’t think it’s synergistic at all.” Meanwhile, Wick says that Symantec (SYMC), which is up sharply today, “is an obvious takeover for someone,” asserting that “the valuation is just too cheap.” He thinks SYMC, now trading a little north of $13, is “easily worth over $20.”Comment -

Meanwhile I just bought some SPY at 107, not looking for much but a .5 point would be nice. And got some more SYMC. I still think SYMC closes firm and enjoys some weekend sizzle and a decent open come Monday.Comment -
