    Golf Caddie?
Hey guys. I have a bud who caddies at a nice course. He makes a few hundred a week just working 2-3 days a week. I was wondering if anyone on here is a caddie as their full time job or iif its possible? I would be interested in the near future of possibly being a caddie and am looking for help and insight! Thanks everyone!

Well I am wondering if I would need to go to Caddie school or something? And how do I "get in" with the private courses who have caddies?

I played varsity golf in high school but do I need more than that? All help on where to look for caddie jobs and what I need to get hired would be great!

what area do you live in?

just call local nice courses to find out.

        for example:
whistling straits, places in georgia, pinehurst, and a few courses in flor. are a part of a chain where the caddies are ran separately than the course.

it would be ideal to get in good at ur place and then travel. noone golfs in wisconsin in the winter so caddies make their way to the other courses, vise versa in summer months.

depends on forecaddie and reg caddy on how much you make

dont expect to make a good bit each time, you CAN and will get stuck with a single sometimes and get a $20 tip for 1 person for 4 hrs because you had to wait on the 4some in front of you

caddy school- not really.. you just train for a week to make sure you dont fukk up and learn the basics

Thanks poker....so even at those super nice courses do you think one would have a chance at even hetting hired or do you think theres too many people trying to do the same thing on those courses to even make it worthwhile?

with some of the guys ive seen doing it, you can do it. just dont go out there in a ponytail/hippy looking

id just call the club and see when they hire. the courses im familiar with only hire twice a year.

honestly, it could be a pretty good side job but i wouldnt do it full time.

no benefits, if you have a family, youd more than likely have to leave atleast 1 season no matter where you live, and the big thing:
like i said, the places im familiar with.. you could drive there, not get a loop, sit there all day, and not get a dime for it. if it rains, you are still expected to be there *just incase someone comes* even though you will sit there all day. you are basically an independent contractor and dont get paid unless you get out.

i was a caddie for 10 years at a private club and went on to caddie on senior tour for 2 ...you can make a lot money if you know what your doing.....but the downside like poker said...if youre not getting out or don't have a steady bag. there is a lot of sitting around making no money, with no benefits, perks etc.......its a tuff gig

                where u live?

It's not as easy as it looks like. You give the player the wrong club and you end up with a dent on your head.

Ha..thanks for the advice everyone...I live in Minnesota and there a few courses like BearPath, Hazeltine, and WindSong that I know have caddies...I guess I might try to get in at WindSong because my good friend is a caddie there and he may be able to put some good words in and I could maybe use him as a reference...

I am currently going to the University of Minnesota for school, but I was looking for another way that I could make some decent cash doing something I love...

yeah.....i was a caddie in college at a nice private club in atlanta.......the senior tour had a tournament there one year.....a couple of the players needed caddies so they used some of us....i got on a bag and we did well, and he kept using me for more tournaments then i made some contacts and it went from there....it was perfect for a job thru college but it would be a tuff gig to support yourself as a full time job
