I snapped one up mid November. Picked up the Wii zapper gun and Super Mario Galaxy as well. Also picked up a sweet Traxxas monster truck R/C for him at the hobby store.

How the hell, in a modern production, era can Nintendo still not be able to make enough of these things to meet demand. Still getting an arm and a leg for these suckers on EBAY. This has to be on purpose.

I am sure that Traxxas R/C truck is going to be a blast. Is it gas powered or battery?

When I was younger, I had a RC10 and my brother had a Blackfoot truck. Those things can be so much fun, but also drive your parents (Me now) crazy. Because of the parts that break when you jump them.

How old is your kid(s)? My son is 5.

To be honest with you.....I always wanted one when I was a kid. I busted that thing out of the box and spent an hour playing with it.

You can beat the shit out of it. Kids on youtube shoot them off four foot high jumps. Test drove the Wii when he wasn't around too. Couldn't help myself.

this brings back memories for me. almost all my friends in the neighborhood had a RC car. i had the Blackfoot truck, at first i had a Grasshopper, i think some company called kyoto or something made them, it was cool cause you had to go to a hobby house to get them and then put them together and you could buy different rims, tires and engines. we used to have a parent load a bunch of us up and take us to E.P. Tom Sawyer park, it has a BMX track, and we would have a blast there, those east end kids had the good shit though, they had the gas cars and they were a bigger scale, we just had the battery kind, most of us had 2 batteries and we had the 15 minute quick charger for your car lighter.
i don't know much about these cars breaking down, we gave ours hell and they kept going. now if you had those pre-fabed kind that came from a department store or radio shack, those usually broke easy.
oh, and one of my good friends had that RC10, i remeber he put some high powered engine in it, and it would only last like 10 minutes, but damn that thing could fly, plus it didn't have reverse for some reason.

sorry to high-jak your thread JBC77, i agree with you about the supply and demand for those Wii's. you would think they would have a bunch stockpiled.

Got my son some Transformers, Ben10 toys, a few kid type games for the PS3 (can't wait for Little Big Planet, comes out next year, I want to play that one), clothes, books, and a couple Blu-Ray movies.

The Grasshopper........thats the one I remember the "older kids" having. Does bring back memories. I can still picture the box in the hobby store. Didn't have the cash back in the day......you had to buy the remote as well as the car. Lotta dough for a kid.

Ben 10 son! I was made to watch the live action Ben 10 show that premiered on Cartoon Network last week. Wasn't too bad.

It's just odd. A shortage was expected when they released it last year before Christmas. This year I believe they are actually losing money by not having enough units. At least thats what the financial guys say.

Usually they make the money on the sale of the games. Licensing fees, sh1t like that. Not so much the system itself. More systems means more games sold. It's puzzling.

noone is planning to release any new consoles in the near future so as long as there is demand it will still sell at the current price for quite some time.

I've been looking to get a Wii as a gift since early October. After working the phones until Black Friday - I still have none. The Vegas area has been bone dry on them forever:/ No way I'm paying 150$ on top over ebay and no point in trying now. That's one thing that stinks about moving - I lost all my 'hookups' for crap like this.
